Got interdicted, then got wanted?

This comes up a lot.
You must use a kill-warrant scanner before shooting a wanted criminal. You must "flash your badge and read his rights(to die)" essentially.
AI bounty hunters will pull you over and check for crimes.
Police will pull you over and check for crimes.
Pirates will pull you over and ..commit crimes.

Don't just shoot somebody for interdicting unless you intend to get a fine.
Don't start shooting at a wanted criminal until you can do so legally either by scanning or being shot at first.

If you shoot at a wanted criminal without scanning while police are nearby, you are just a random guy shooting another guy. The police will react respectively.
Wanted status is a broad category, he may be wanted for one reason but the nearby police are not interested as he is not wanted in the current system by said authority.

"Flashing your badge" will flag you as authorized to bring justice and receive the bounty from the correct jurisdiction.

Bounty hunting is a little more complex than shooting criminals at random.

Interesting, all I have done thus far is get interdicted, scan, once wanted appears, I am all set to go. Never once got a wanted for that. Only got wanted once, and that's when the security forces came, and started shooting at the other guy, still wasn't wanted then, then they got in my way and I got in trouble for it.

Yup, this annoys me ...although I'm aware from previous builds so haven't been caught out.
A few times, pirates have been on the comms with 'die scum! comments and I just sigh and wait for them to land the first shot so they turn red.

So silly ....

Better stay away from fighting and run. It's like in school when the bully picks on you and you answer accordingly, you're the aggressor.

Its been a few hours since it happened now, so might not be remembering this correctly, but I am absolutely sure the git shot my a**e first after saying "I want it, I want it all", which I think understandably warranted a response with my cannons, not to mention I've been itching to get into a dogfight, but shying away until I've made some upgrades. (Ian Parker, is this likely to be an NPC?), and I'm pretty damn sure I didn't clip the other ship, cos it came in right at the last minute of fighting. Oh yeah, got a screen grab of "[Federal Security service]>You're clean, proceed, pilot" immediately followed by "lining up attack run". At least its not just me, but rubs salt in the wounds heading home with 19% hull left, to then have to fork out 1.4K in fines...
