So I've finally got some credits. What ship is the next ship to purchase. Want some thing that handles well and has decent weapons. An all rounder basically. I value your input and thanks in advance commanders.

What are you flying now? What do you like to do? All-rounder you say? If this will be your first ship purchase, the Cobra Mk. III is usually the go to purchase. Viper Mk. IV for a combat oriented all-rounder.

^^^ agree with this. The Cobra the best all-rounder out of the cheaper ships.

Got the sidewinder at the moment. I like the idea of exploration. Only had the game about a week and still getting the hang of it. Bounty hunting seems appealing as well so if I could combine the two that would be good. I think I can afford either of those.

Thirded ^^^

Went from sidey to cobra (admittedly when in gpp and was giving fair payouts for missions), but still this is the only all-rounder ship you will need until you want to get into the middle bracket expensive ships.

I went from Sidey to Viper to Cobra. I think it depends on how much cash you've got and what you want to do.
The Viper you can kit out to a reasonably level for less than 900k (4 pulse lasers and 'B' grades on thrusters,Power,FSD). This will be a big improvement on basic Sidewinder. Whereas the Cobra you would probably want at least 2m to kit out. But the Cobra is your first proper trade vessel in my opinion and this opens the game up.
