So, I know Jacques is about to head off to Beagle Point, and I find myself considering a ride-along
But the trip back will be a far, FAR longer trip than I've ever undertaken before. I have a couple of Asp Explorers with 30+ light year jump ranges, auto-field maintenance units, etc., but I was wondering if anyone who has made the trip before had any pointers for how to prepare for the trip in the little time I have beforehand, while I still have access to the inhabited bubble's resources. The two 30+ LY jump range Asps differ significantly in loadout - One is set up as a decent 'jack of all trades', with basic weapons and decent-ish shields, along with 8 tons of cargo space, while the other has no weapons and minimal shields, but has better jump range and 32 tons of cargo space. Both will do at least 30 light years a jump (the first one just barely), but which one would you guys recommend taking? I was hoping to bring back some of Jacques rare liquor stills on the way back for some extra profit, too, if the price truly scales by distance from source
Not sure if it's worth the 18 tons (or 8 tons, if I'm in the first ship) of cargo space they'll take up, and the resultant loss of jump range, though, particularly if the distance-based profits on the rares tops out at a low enough number. Also, as regards the first Asp, ship-based weapons might seem superfluous, but given my experiences with planetary POIs, I know they can be useful even outside of the bubble. I dunno - I'm leaning towards the latter Asp, but I'd appreciate any advice you guys have
Anyways, any other help or guidance you all could provide would be much-appreciated, as well! Like Jacques, I too have found myself getting bored and listless regarding Elite: Dangerous as of late, and like Jacques, I think this trip may be just what I need to spark some enthusiasm for it again
Thanks!
