got some mates coming over at the weekend

and want to let them check out ED in the rift using my X55....

however...

I dont want them to blow all my money by crashing my viper.

if I sell my ship to buy a sidewinder in advance of them crashing, will I get all my cash back (inc that from my guns)

if not, how much can i expect to lose?

thanks

Don't get too attached to your stuff, Beta 2 may very well bring another reset, and if it doesn't you can be pretty sure that the gamma will

You get back the price difference between the ships , including (I think) guns and definitely armour, if thats what you mean?

i think you will lose 10% of all, or close to that, but as there is wipe soon then it really doesn't matter THAT much ;)

Sell and who cares, there is no price in making friends happy and jealous at the same time!!:D:D:D

Make them do the deathrace!!! HAHAHAHA!!!

A few things you can do:
- Let them fly your viper and risk been blown up
- Put them on the scenarios where you will loose nothing and they should be able to get the full experience from (minus trading)
- Go off-line, if I remember correctly this is a completely different save so you'll be starting from scratch.

I did the same the other weekend. They eventually sent me back to zero.

Getting cocky was usually the cause of each death. Boosting through the station lost a few.

But I wasnt too bothered, I wasnt attached to it all, this stage was all about messing about for me.

If you sell everything and buy a sidewinder you will reduce your loses.

You should get most of your credits back downgrading to the sidewinder, or you could just show them just the training missions if you want to be absolutely safe.

Can't you just let them use your viper fully loaded and then get someone to record it and post it on youtube as a reaction video - would make great entertainment value. :D

How long they can keep flying depending on how much spare credits you have left. A fully kitted out Viper will cost a fair bit in insurance.

For their fun alone I would downgrade to the a basic Sidewinder then let them have fun. That way they can still try out trading, docking and combat etc without wiping your account dry.

Also for someone new to the game even the Sidewinder is going to look and feel great, then when they are about to go back home you can rebuy your viper and point out that they could fly the other ships they have been seeing in the game if they had it.

Instant sales for the game at that point :p

thanks for your thoughts,

yeah i know there may be a wipe soon, and certainly 1 before gamma, but i may as well minimise my losses.

I know i could let them try the single player scenarios, however it is as much a demo of the rift as it is a demo of ED, and seeing the space stations in ED in the rift is something I have never come close to experiencing in a game before.

thinking about it, its a no brainer anyway regardless of money. that "sunroof" in the sidewinder is like VR space pr0n ;)

thanks again, and I am hoping to bag frontier (and maybe oculus and saitek) a couple of sales over the weekend.

last time I did this I netted FD 4 sales of the premium beta ;)

Slight problem with that one. There is no off-line version!

It might not be offline technically, but isn't that what "Solo Play" is?

Also, for those saying that Beta 2 will have a wipe, Prem Beta 2 had a wipe as well but the devs refunded players the price of their current craft so we might get the same here as well.

Nope, solo play is identical to the regular online mode, aside from there are no other players. The save data is identical / shared otherwise

Well this is interested. I thought they were two different save files. May be the solution to my problems of been killed by PvP pirates when trying to do a bit of bounty hunting. :D
