A good closed back alternative are the de facto Sound Guy's cans:

Ignore the misleading marketing "DJ" tag. These are professional monitors that have existed for far longer than DJs have been using them. If you hire an expensive location sound guy, or someone to sort setup out at an eye-watering day rate at Radio 3, chances are, he'll come with a pair of these. They are not speech presenter cans, like the old grey DT700, au contraire, they are at home to Mr. Bass too.
They are light, but far more robust than they seem. Everything is available as a spare. They sound nice, especially after running in. You need a reasonable headphone amp to drive them, as the default is 70 Ohm. I have had the same pair since about 2008 (I think) and they're still going strong. They're probably the most popular "workhorse" cans that Sennheiser has ever made.
Obviously, they're closed back, which means they leak less and isolate more. However, equally obviously, you get a more "enclosed" soundstage, and just a shade of low-frequency resonance. However, they sound nice and last for years, without driving people around you nuts. One caveat- they are capable of very high output levels; watch your ears.
People should shop around- prices vary wildly. Only buy from authorised suppliers- headphones are one of the most commonly faked bits of consumer electronics. Oh, and avoid HD-25 SP.. they look similar, are somewhat cheaper, but are vastly inferior.. a common gotcha.
