Got worried in Hyperspace

I read up how to scoop fuel and then tried many times at various stars. With impatience I was getting closer and closer, 100% + and still not scooping. Then due to even further impatience I decided to Jump to the next sytem which was in the opposite direction of the star, I was at 115% temp and as the countdown started I was at something like 170%, in hyperspace my ship was burning up and taking damage half the way and the temperature maxed at 224%.

While this was hapenning I was silently painfully expecting the ship to just break up.

Is this normal?

Footnote: I had decided to look up how to scoop after getting my Eagle Bloody no scoop fitted unlike the sidey

Temperatures can rise quite high when you are close to a star. While spooling up the hyperdrive the temperature of your ship rises even more. I've had similar situations as you, and at some point you start getting damage, but not like an epic POOF and you're gone... No, damage will just accumulate until you are with 0% hull left and it will say BOOM.

Fuel scooping is quite useful, especially on long trips. I usually slowly move towards the star until the fuel scope is activated and then slowly move such that temperature stays at 99%. Once done, I move out of the vicinity of the star until temperature is dropped to 75% or lower before starting the hyperdrive.
