GPU temps up to 84C at Odyssey settlements, it this ok?

It’s no secret that Odyssey gives PCs a workout. My 2080 Ti is running 79-82C average on surface settlements, particularly if there are fires. I have seen brief spikes up to 84C but only for a few seconds. Is this running way too hot or is this nothing to worry about?

Unless you're overclocking (or have otherwise fiddled with the card's settings or cooling), ther's nothing to worry about. The card will simply throttle down if it feels to hot (and of course ramp up its fans in an attempt to prevent this). Without knowing a lot more about your rig and its environment, it's hard to say more (where I am, summer is coming). Except: if its insides look lie this, you should clean it:

my 5 k iMac model 2014/2015 with an R9 M295X ran at 105 °C GPU all the time with peaks up to 109 °C. it died after 3,5 years with a loud bang.

84C is the default temp limit of the 2080 Ti. So, the card is likely throttling a little to maintain the temps you see. It's not rare to see a Founders Edition, or AIB model with a smaller cooler, run at temp limit when pushed to the stock power limit, but it may still be worthwhile to ensure the card and case are clean. If you have an AIB model with a larger cooler, then something might be wrong.
