Grand Conjunction

Has anyone ever jumped into a system and found all the planets neatly lined up (to within 10 degrees anyway...) on one side of the star?

I never have, but it happens every few thousand years in Sol (for naked eye planets anyway, and presumably at a lower frequency for all 8 (or 9)) so there should be lots of systems where it is happening at any point in time. I've never seen it - have any of you?

I just think it'd be a really cool thing to chance upon...

I got 6 out of 8 Gas giants in a line once. Just a shame the other two were as far opposite as it goes, I think I skipped them if I remember rightly..

Its rare but nice ;)

I've seen a lot of systems like that.

I presume that they are generated at zero degrees at some epoch, and then advanced to their correct position for the current time.

If the epoch was relatively recent, then the outer bodies won't have moved much and appear near-conjunction.

Orbiting bodies should be generated with a random offset in their orbit to mix things up a bit. (Been there, done that!)
