Graphical anomaly - is my gpu dying?

Hello everyone,

been venturing back into elite dangerous and vr. These last few days I have had this happening on my screen mirror and rift : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B29LacA91w_QN0w1QkVhNzNmbU0/view?usp=sharing

I`ve logged my gtx1080 temperature and at the moment of that picture it was 68 C. This only happens in stations or on the planet surface. I have not seen this occure in any other game, but then again with increased pixel density I`m pretty sure nothing else is as taxing as elite. It might be my drivers, but I wanted to ask about this before I change drivers as not to perhaps mask an faulty gpu in some way.

Anyone can tell me what this is?

Regards,

Petro

nope. it's not your GPU..thats a problem in the game/gfx drivers. I had that same effect happen to me many times after playing for 30min or more. I updated my drivers and it hasnt hapend again.

Ohhhh, thank you for your fast answer!!! I`ve been googling alot, trying to find someone with the same problem and couldn't find it. Thats a relief now!

I've had that happen once - thought I was in the Matrix. ;)

I've also had that on just a small portion of one display (Rift) just last night.

Never had that, but I did have card starting to present issues like it or even worse, that was of course a dodgy card but unlike OP.
It was doing that in every game, and even after a day on the windows desktop.

Since OP it's ED only then I agree it's a software issue.

Yes, it's your GPU. I'm surprised it lasted this long frankly. Only a Titan X Pascal will solve the issue.

^^^^ Cut this message above the arrows and show it to your wife for justification to buy a Titan X Pascal. You're welcome. :D

Don't give me ideas:O. What good would a 25 % increase in performance over my current gpu matter anyway? Its not important, its not important, its not important..........[knocked out];)

Funny how my computer breaks every 2 years or right around release of some shiny new toy. LOL
