Graphics artifact or?

Here is the setup, HMC with Rubeium biolumiescent anemones. While operating the cam and lowering it just below the surface, for a split second there are these tendril structures that are visible. The graphics engine quickly blacks them out but for just a split sec you will catch sight of them. That grid pattern, I assume, is the mesh structure of the planet itself.

Is it a graphics artifact or...roots? Be quick with your screen capture or the screen will go black.

Graphics artifact. You'll see that whenever your SRV falls through a crack in the terrain and goes tumbling down towards the centre of the planet. Used to happen a lot more back when 2.0 came out.

I also used to see it a lot on my old potato-grade PC when the surface was very low-res visually, but all the bumps and dips were still there in the terrain for the SRV to drive up and down. Drive into a small crater and you'd "submerge" beneath the surface, and see the ribbed texture of the underlying planet.

This happend to me when I fell down for several metres after I had entered a crater... while sitting on the world of death! Scared the hell out of me, because I was pretty on edge already. Was the only one time it had happened to me so far... I had to relog because I couldn't get out anymore. ;)
