Graphics Cards...

First off, hi everybody. [big grin]
So I get that the official specs call for an Nvidia GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 7850 Graphics card, but does anyone know if a EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti would work as well since it also has 2GB of memory? I just really don't want to buy it and then find out I can't play.

Graphics cards get outdated so fast. I would personally go for the new GTX1080, Ihave 2 GTX 980'S and they run 60 fps with 3440x1440 resolution. The new card is selling for $630.00. That's a steal.

That 750ti GPU card works. Plenty of people use that; I remember that they report they need to run on the Low quality setting. It is slower than newer options. The current generation equivalent is the Nvidia 950 which is a little faster, and will probably retain driver support for longer. The 960 or 970 would be a step up.

If you give us more information about your situation, your computer, and your budget we might be able to give you more recommendations.

Does your computer have power connectors for add in Graphics cards? Some 750TI cards need a power cable plugged into them, some do not.

What is your CPU? Planet Coaster is a simulation game and pushes both the CPU and GPU hard.

Nvidia is releasing a whole new generation of graphics cards. The newest cards are higher end -- the 1070 and 1080 are coming in June, but they'll push the prices of the older generation 9XX cards down. You also might find a lot of these older good cards 970 and 980 being sold off by people who are upgrading to the 1070 and 1080. Might be some good deals out there.

Eric is asking about a $100 card. Recommending a $600+ card may be out of line, since we don't know what his current CPU speed is or more importantly what his budget is.

A i5 or i7 made in the last few years that is fast (lets say 3.5ghz+) is needed to push those bad beasts of a 1070 or 1080, no sense in have a slow processor be the bottleneck to the computer. The 1070 sure does sound sexy for $375 when it beats the old $700+ card.
