Graphics Glitch, Ship leaves me behind and only Radar & Space is visible.

I did a clean install of Windows 11 Pro 2 days ago. I only loaded the bare bones Nividia Driver for my 4090 GPU. I've had this happen before the clean install, and now twice since. It usually happens when I make some kind of input to the game. Basically the ship leaves me behind and all I can see is the radar scope and planets/moons, etc. I can turn the ship and the view rotates. But the ESC key doesn't work and I have to shut the game down via task manager. I'll post an image or two of what I'm seeing. Is this a known issue or should I submit a ticket to support?

yea i think the software has an ultra slow mem leak that manifests as the above after a very long session 4 to 8 hrs+ for eg without loggin out and back in
my sessions tend to be a couple of hours or so........
so it seldom happens to me.................

Hi All :)

I've experienced this too, though rarely. I have to resort to task manager too to shut the game down as the game screen locks up.. ;)

Ah...right!...interesting. :)
This only ever seems to happen after a long play session, the renderer goes into "death mode" (the same view it uses when your ship explodes) even though you haven't died.
Again...this is my experience, if I've left the ship stationery in space, leave the game running and for some reason forgot about it (usually a RL occurrence that's distracted me!)
when I remember again after a few hours and come back to the game I get a similar scenario as described above, the graphics of the ship and Hud (plus other graphical errors) 'separate', and sometimes the exit game function doesn't work.

Though it's also as described by metatheurgist , quite rare and it seems also random.
I'm glad I've seen this topic though as Initially I thought it might have been something wrong with my GPU or PC. (y)

Jack :)

I should have mentioned it never happens when I play in VR mode with the Meta Quest 3. I have a Type 10 AFK build and I leave the game running in screen mode (not VR) overnight. I haven't had the issue happen then. It's almost always when I make a control input. This morning after a productive AFK overnight session I was docking on autodock and it happened, that's the first time I didn't move a control or make some kind of input. I guess I need to do a tech support ticket. As a last resort I could pull my 4yr old gaming rig out of the closet and play ED on it for awhile and see if it happens.

AFK builds lol one can only dream "play your own way!" or not as the case may be😁
what ever rocks ya boat i suppose..........
personally i am more of a hands on type of player 🤷‍♂️

I got the idea from some videos and a member of my squadron who does it for credits by stacking missions. But I did it for merits, missions to kill pirates are rare in my system. I park the T10 in Resource Extraction Site [Low] and usually gain enough merits while AFK to advance one level.

I should also mention when playing in screen mode I have had it on "borderless" window. Now I'm trying "fullscreen" mode to see if I get the glitch. The latter mode is a nuisance when I need to access the other monitor but at least the game doesn't dump. If I get the glitch in fullscreen then I'll try windowed mode.

to my noggin happens in both modes
the game whilst it may work is not designed with AFK play in mind
and i think they auto assume players will log out in relativley frequently(not 2 hrs plus for eg) to get around the mission objectives not spawning quirk accociated with peer to peer networks...........
if you ticket this you will probably get a generic response asking have you attempted to relog?

(a lot of online games acctually dump you out without any control input after in some cases GTA for eg in less than 10 mins)

i would even go as far as to say any kind of "auto play" is generally frowned upon by frontier developments................
but in saying that if they really strongly objected they would incoperate a no input dump out feature

Happens regularly to me and can produce some very mind altering drug like effects and awesome light shows with your 'virtual body' crashing through the internal workings of both ships and stations.
Usually (but not always) after several hours of play - a simple process kill (as menus are not visible) and reload clears it.

Windows 11, Intel i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 32.0GB RAM, Nvidia 1080GTX (8GB) GPU.
I know, old as the hills but, very open to any upgrade contributions!

Never reported it, just considered it a "Time to take a break" warning

The game shows lots of signs of having memory problems. This one seems to be the extreme, but if we don't report them, they don't get fixed. Hell, if we do report them, they don't get fixed anyway. Thing is though, memory issues are things that tend to drag on performance and we all know this thing needs more performance.

I played for about 2 hours in fullscreen mode with no issues. Then I needed to switch to VR for the rest of the night for combat and core-mining (VR is very helpful when pinging the rocks.) I reached Level 44 on PowerPlay and got the Rail Guns I wanted, the next 2 or 3 unlocks I already have from several years ago. So I'm probably going to focus on base building in my Squadron's new location and semi-retire the AFK T10 build unless I can find missions for it at the new location.

For the first time ever for me (and after around 5 hours in game) this has occurred in the System Map. The system objects and connectors are moving independently of the atmosphere/landable indicators and colonisation counts.

Hardly a screen that I figured would be driving my GPU very hard.
Even more bizarrely, when I attempt to add the session to OBS (for evidence) all it does is display the OBS window that I'm working in (not the EliteDangerous64.exe process I'm selecting).

Did anyone locate or raise a ticket for me to add my two penneth to?

I played for several hours in Full Screen mode as I mentioned, but then I went to windowed mode and have had no issues. Full screen was a nuisance since I regularly need to access info on the other two monitors. Windowed mode works great, all I see is a small gray bar at the top of the screen.

I usually play borderless which definitely demonstrates the issue and I suspect is used by the majority of Commanders.
Am currently colonising so will switch to Full Screen for the (somewhat interminable) FC loads/unloads and see how we go.

We're currently helping a squadron member build a Coriolis Station, the 1st in the new area we moved to (lots of good systems to colonize here vs. trash systems in our old area). When I'm doing the brain-numbing back and forth I play in windowed mode because I'm running YouTube videos and other stuff on a side monitor. But when mining, especially core mining, I use my Meta Quest 3 VR headset. I also use it for combat.

When I first used the Meta Quest I noticed I didn't need my glasses. I asked my Eye Doc about that and he said it's because the headset sends the video directly to my corneas. Problem is when I need to "peek out" at a side monitor it's blurry. There's a "Pass Thru" mode on the headset but it's the same issue with being blurry. But there's also a function where you can display one of your monitors in the headset and it's crystal clear, I can easily read the text on a website without my glasses.
