TLDR version - I am basically wondering if there are any Digital Foundry style Commanders out there! A noble soul that has gone through all of the graphics settings and managed to tweak them to provide gains in performance without sacrificing too much of the visual quality! It would be great to hear about specific settings I could drop to achieve the most gains in performance, so I am not going down a full quality setting if I can avoid it.

I understand people are disappointed right now, so I better start by saying that I have used the search function and I've also read more than my fair share of posts related to performance. Honestly maybe someone has already asked something similar to this that I have missed, but it's just easier to write something yourself than hunt through every single post.
Like most I have taken quite the performance hit with Odyssey, and I totally understand how it's frustrating. It really isn't the first time (and let's be honest it won't be the last time) that a game comes out of the oven half baked when sales can be made and then it can worked on post launch. Customers don't like it, but unfortunately this is basically how the games industry operates now the vast majority of the time. I am trying to be optimistic about it however and am I still enjoying Odyssey despite the current issues. I am wondering what I can do right now to improve the experience (besides waiting for more hot fixes!)
I am playing on a Asus FX505DT laptop with a Ryzen 5 3550H CPU, GeForce GTX 1650 (4GB VRAM) GPU, 16GB RAM (GDDR4 I believe), SSD installed. I have the latest graphics drivers downloaded. I have set the Nvidia Control Panel stuff that I usually change to favour performance. Game Mode is On. GPU settings has Elite to favour maximum performance. I have also deleted the contents of my Graphics folder to allow for a new post Odyssey version to be made (or whatever it was supposed to do).
I used to play Horizons on High settings at 1080p Fullscreen. Roughly I would be getting around 100-120 FPS in space, dipping down to the 80s docking/landing on planets. So 80-120 FPS let's say as a ball park figure. It was always a really smooth experience.
I have now dropped the settings down to Medium for Odyssey and still play at 1080p in Fullscreen. I would roughly say I have a 40-50% decrease in performance overall in the same areas mentioned. It does seem to vary and I haven't played enough hours yet to say for sure. As of now I have noticed around 20-30 FPS on foot, sometimes it will go higher to between 40-50 in less demanding areas (like barren planets in the middle of nowhere or disembarking at a space station and lurking around outside my ship!)
I would guess that my bottleneck is my GPU and/or VRAM, as I see them at the highest % when I check the Xbox performance widget (WinKey+G). I've really only noticed the GPU at 100% in a station once, most of the time I'd say its between 70-90%. Same for the VRAM, I don't think I've seen that going above 90%.
I can't really think of anything else to mention that may be of use and it looks like this post is already getting too long so thanks in advance for any advice!
