Graphics Tips

So, I have seen some great screenshots. Like this one:

But, I have to say that pictures like this irritate me. I can never seem to get my game looking this good. Its either, too bright, too dark, jaggedy, not jadggedy, too much shadow, not enough shadow. Its never like this. Anyone got any tips on how to make my game look better?

Oh, and here are my specs:

AMD 9590 8 Core 5GHZ CPU
8GB DDR3 RAM
7970 GHz Edition 3GB GPU
Crosshair V Formula Z MOBO

I have an overclocked I5 @ 4.2 with an R9 290 running on a Ben Q 2560 by 1440 32 inch monitor and mine looks that good to me chap. They do sometimes use aftermarket applications to ''clean up'' the pictures, but you can press ''Alt'' I think it is with F 10 and then you get a super high resolution screen-shot, it takes a couple of seconds for the computer to process them, but yea I have done a few shots of my Conda and they look that good, the detail is amazing, especially the damage model on the Conda, the only ship to have any damage modelling at all that is.

I read that you have to be carful using alt+f10. I thought the good screen shot was shift+f10.

It's all about the light.

Get the angle of the star in the right position for the shot you want first - so you pick your location and ship angle carefully. Same with the camera direction, sometimes you want ship and roids in shadow, sometimes you dont.

Assuming you are running everything on high or above, nice screenshots are achievable.

Also, when setting out for screenshots, drop into solo or private group. You can then use Alt-F10 to take a quad resolution screenshot which will then scale down nicely to have no jaggies.

This one was using my old graphics hardware, and I'd say still looks pretty nice. Light direction and intensity is everything.

Why is that?

2x Supersampling on Sapphire VAPOR-X R9 280X TRI-X (Driver version: 14.501.1003.0) (not overclocked). Ambient occlusion is off I think. I am looking into that tonight.

What graphics card do you have? it's not listed in your specs.

Update: Ambient occlusion was enabled but bloom was disabled.

Sorry, I was reading different sections and a few mentioned the alt+f10 but they actually applied to the use of them when starting a computer or if you own an Acer. It seems to open up other command functions.

Another tip.

Drop out of supercruise and set full throttle - you get the thrusters looking good then rather than just a blue glow.

Ah, makes sense, That would suck!
