My last session in ED was mostly spent flying my iCourier at high speeds in to things, mostly canyon walls.
Which got me thinking, wouldn't it be kind of hilarious, if each time a player ship or SRV (not SLF) is destroyed by a collision with the surface, a sort of digital or real "gravestone", or flag, with your name, and the date on it, is placed there?
Kinda like what happens in Worms when you die. But in ED. Lol
To prevent issues, it could be limited so they won't be placed within 20km of a base.
The information is actually pretty simple, just a set of coordinates, with the players name and date.
There could be a limit on how many can exist in one space, just to prevent over crowding. And can load on the fly when you drive/fly within a few 100/1000m of them, rather than load all at once.
If for whatever reason a planet is regenerated during an update, all the gravestones can be wiped from it, to avoid issues.
Then, yes, more, you can sell funky and unique "gravestones" in the store!
It's a totally stupid idea, with no gameplay at all, but, all those buckyball routes, and popular canyon races, and high G planets will be littered with gravestones.
As well as just discovering someone else's crash site would be pretty funny.
You'd be able to see who crashed, and look them up. Then tell them you found it. For no particular reason.
Brilliant!
