That one's clearly a North American Subspecies though. You can see it in the Body Shape. Also Timberwolf is a Term that includes multiple North American Wolf Subspecies and it seems to be the Northwestern Wolf/Mackenzie Valley Wolf (Canis lupus occidentalis) (it's called that in a Scenario). A Shame that they chose the probably most colorful Subspecies but only gave us different grey and brown Variants. Also that white Face that the Wolves in the Game have seems to be rather uncommon. If they would at least get the Zoopedia right.Don't get me started on wolves and the wrong translation of the name Frontier has done in several languages...
The translation of the name is more of a general problem with translations that goes beyond the wolf, I would say. I can only speak on behalf of my own native language, of course.Don't get me started on wolves and the wrong translation of the name Frontier has done in several languages...
Put a mud bath in the arctic wolf ebclosure. Viola you get a Greyish wolf.I really like this game and I love wolves but for me model of Timber Wolf is really really bad quality and unnatural. I wish they will add Gray Wolf with beautiful model and texture something like Arctic Wolf which is really beautiful!
And I think wolves need more coat colors
Even though the German Translation is mostly perfect there are also some Mistakes. For Example the Babirusa being called a Pig Breed in the Zoopedia and some Deer Decorations that clearly depict a different Species being refered to as RoedeerIf I set my game on Danish and look through the Zoopedia, I can find many mistakes. Since it is painful to look at, it has been a while since I last did that. But last time I checked one of the mistakes was that they hadn't even used a different name for Dall's Sheep. Not even the Sheep part. Tyndhornsfår is the most common name used for that in Danish, but Dall's Får would be okay. But I spot the same kind of mistakes in movie subtitles and so on.
Really want them to do it like that. This Way we would hopefully finally get proper Variants for the Northwestern Wolf and additionally the Eurasian Wolf which I want to keep in so many of my Zoos and Wildparks. The most logical thing to do in my eyes:
Update the current 'Canis lupus' (entire grey wolf species) and make it the subspecies 'Canis lupus occidentalis' aka the northwestern wolf / Mackenzie valley wolf / timber wolf. Add 'Canis lupus lupus' aka the Eurasian or common wolf. Both subspecies get (lots of) additional coat variants. The northwestern wolf gets lighter and darker (black and smoky) variants, and the Eurasian wolf gets darker and richer pigmented and beige variants.

The game will now have 3 wolf subspecies (arctic, northwestern, Eurasian). Instead of 1 entire species and 1 subspecies of a species that is in game already, which makes no sense at all.
This is what I've been wanting the whole time, yesThe game will now have 3 wolf subspecies (arctic, northwestern, Eurasian). Instead of 1 entire species and 1 subspecies of a species that is in game already, which makes no sense at all.

Mexican Gray Wolf would be great, too, since it is the only wolf i found a mod for, and the next most unique.Really want them to do it like that. This Way we would hopefully finally get proper Variants for the Northwestern Wolf and additionally the Eurasian Wolf which I want to keep in so many of my Zoos and Wildparks.
Also don't forget about a white Variant of the Northwestern Wolf
Hope though they wouldn't be all just simple Color Switches again. How often do you see Wolves with a completely white Face while the Rest of the Fur has a completely different Color?
Another Thing that I would absolutely love to see would be even more unique Wolves by having various Eye Colors and maybe even a small Chance for Heterochromia iridum. Posted all the Eye Colors that are possible for Grey Wolves, Arctic Wolves and Dingos in another Thread some Time ago
Don't understand why the Timberwolf shouldn't be fixed but I'd actually buy that Pack. Would need to heavily increase the Size of my Wolf Park thoughJust give me a full Wolf Pack.
I'll pay for it. Just exclude the Northwestern wolf and keep it as the "timber wolf". Don't change anything about it. It will annoy everyone.
- Eurasian wolf.
- Mexican wolf.
- Indian wolf.
- Red wolf (yeah, yeah).
- Iberian wolf.
- Etc.
There is a Coyote mod on Nexus. Now that i think of it, even though coyotes are different (larger and pointier ears, smaller, more adaptable etc) They could do a great timber wolf remake, i have not seen any mods with coyotes, so it would be great to see one! (and also coyotes and timber wolves would be able to breed and make a red wolf, maybe make it the only way to get one, and there fore, there should be animal enrichment of these).
Coywolves and Red Wolves are different though. If they are truely Hybrids (there is a Theory that they might actually be a even more unique Species that just hybridized a lot with those two Animals in the Past), they are still no normal Hybrids but evolved into their own Species/Subspecies. So sadly this wouldn't work to just get more Red Wolves like that. You need Red Wolves to get more Red WolvesNow that i think of it, even though coyotes are different (larger and pointier ears, smaller, more adaptable etc) They could do a great timber wolf remake, i have not seen any mods with coyotes, so it would be great to see one! Because:Don't understand why the Timberwolf shouldn't be fixed
I think it would be funny if Frontier did a little bit of trolling. It will annoy everyone.
