Horizons Great fun with skimmer missions

I had some great fun with skimmer missions tonight.

I went to my favourite skimmer spot of yesteryear, Volynov Station, and got 20 skimmer missions for the one planet base they are all for (I forgot the name). I arrived, landed my Viper at 3.5 kms from the base and happily approached the perimeter in my SRV. This was not good: I was shot to pieces by groups of skimmers, goliaths and other defense forces. Bummer. I respawned in my Viper and tried again, this time I drove right into the base at full speed and parked in a corner where I could take cover, and eliminate the incoming skimmers and stingers one by one, more or less. Halfway I ran out of ammo and died. Hmmmppffff, I should be able to synthesize ammo, shouldn't I?

Next I set out to 31 Beta Leonis Minoris 5 C (or a similar moon) and collected iron, nickel, sulphur and phosphorus for the first time using surface prospecting. I had never done that before, it was kinda fun to learn to read the wave scanner. I returned to the skimmer base and using a fresh SRV, I finished off the rest of the skimmers I needed for the missions. By the way, stingers and guardians also count as skimmers.

Finally, after three hours of excitement I returned to Volynov and turned my missions in: 110M! I immediately took some new skimmer missions (only the ones that paid more than 3M, lots of board hopping involved) and with a new portfolio I went back to the base for a 3rd run. There, I immediately parked in the 'golden spot' and from there on it was a turkey shoot, albeit with sweat dropping from my forehead and lots of pip switching, and I was happy to be able to synthesize a new load of ammo on the spot [that really saved my ], and my missions were completed in about one hour. After a suicidal reconnaissance joyride around the base I flew back to Volynov and enjoyed another 110M reward. Now this is what I call fun! And for a good reward, too.

Sounds like you had a great time, OP. That is what a game is suppose to be.;)

Me, I couldn't hit a bull in the butt with a base fiddle with the SRV. I think maybe my ex put a curse on me.
