Me and the wing-mates like to stay around the same station. Well last night I became Wanted in that system. That's a bummer cause I liked hanging out with the guys there.

"No problem" I say.. "I'll just buy a Sidewinder, let the cops blow me up, and it'll be back to business as usual."

"OH MAN, GUY! That's brilliant! You're the smartest most awesomest ED player evAr!"

So I go do that, get killed and I'm sitting at the insurance screen. You know the one..

It asks.. Do I want to spend 600cR for my existing Sidewinder or take a new Sidewinder for Free? Well I'm cheap, so I LOL at the "choice" and say "gimme teh free one"

BAD.
IDEA.

I did not know that picking the free one put you all the way back at one of the starting stations.

I spent the next 30min twinking up a new Sidewinder to fly 85ly over to get my nearest stored ship and then flew that to our rendezvous station.

Lesson-Learned.

I myself had thought of doing this as a quick way to get back to the start system.. Guess I may not till I park a ship at that station.. Thanks for the info.

Two things:

1. Why did it take 30 minutes to outfit (I assume that's what you mean by "twinking") a sidewinder?

2. Next time buy a hauler "taxi" and outfit it for maximum jump range. You would have been back in no time.

1. 30min to twink(outfit) then get my other ship, strip the twink and then use my other ship to get to my fleet's rendezvous. Probably took that long due to inexperience and range.

2. There wasn't even a ship yard at the port I was forced to start at, to find one, get there, and then make the necessary purchases probably would have taken longer, no?

I say twink, cause where outfitting the ship to get me from point A to point B is one thing, I actually had fun upgrading modules I probably didn't have to upgrade to make that trip
