Green = Go, RED does not..

Please make this a sticky

On the entrance/exit slot of the stations, flight paths in/out are indicated by RED lights and GREEN lights.

GREEN is the side you want to be using NOT RED.

thnx

Please use correct flight lane

It appears they added an auto centering thingy that's a real problem.

As you enter or exit the station, a force is applied that tries to centre you. If you do the 'right' thing and try to keep left or right, this force pulls you hard and the result is (if you don't compensate) that you crash into the toast rack.

I think this is a bug.

If FD want to help people navigate the entrance they should not apply forces, but rather just increase damping in the mouth instead.

Is this official or is it just speculation that this is not just graphical effects, or just a rule the forums are trying to get going?

And maybe if it is official the woman on the spacestation tanoy thingy could announce it periodically to inform all the rest of the players.

I disagree.
I think the problem is people ignoring the lights.
I personally pay them no attention whatsoever. If there's something in the way that I can manoeuvre around I do so. If it's too big I wait.
Not sure what can be done about it.

Wait, are you saying you are *not* experiencing a mysterious centering force?

Erm your not the boss of me or docking, so erm I'll dock how and where I want, Including but not limited to, in the middle, backwards, scraping the bottom, flying so close to your ship you can smell my cargo.... besides I'm red green colour blind and the station rotates........

So erm I'll continue to dock the way I want to dock, if that means I hit your ship so be it............

i do also see the force when 'in' the slot

but still , common sense knows Green is good Red is not...
traffic lights etc

Exactly my style. Period.
End if discussion.

Correct.
But then again I usually enter the station at about 140m/s anyway so I don't know if it would act in that circumstance or if my ship would feel it.

The force is applied only on exit and it's pain in the backside.
If you fly a Lakon or Anaconda you wont feel it since both sides will apply the force and they will compensate each other.

To the OP this discussion has come up over and over again since Alpha 4. My advice to you is to always watch your scanner.

Guys, the light's are Navigational lights, there are no traffic lines in space.

Red means left and green means right.

That's also why the cage pushes us into the middle, the entrance is not meant to be passed through by several ships at once, that's also why the arrows at the edge of the cage always point inwards and not one outwards and one inwards.
