It would be a really nice touch if CMDRs docking at Federal and Imperial controlled/aligned stations were greeted by their rank with that faction by the flight controller. Any time the flight controller would say "commander" they would say their rank e.g. "lord" or "lieutenant" instead. Commanders should have the option to disable this in their options menu on a per super-power basis.
This could be extended to the greetings text on the star-port services main menu and mission flavour text from super-power aligned factions. Essentially any time "commander" would be used the correct rank is subsituted instead.
Doing these things would increase the immersion for players that work towards ranks with the Empire and Federation, and improve the sense of integration with their power structures. This rationalizes well with the lore as the Empire with their strictly stratified society would place great importance on an individual's rank and using it correctly; and the Federation would likely place similar emphasis on the correct use of ranks for Federal Navy Auxiliaries.
