Welp... I think I'm gonna call it for a few days. Remember that guy I mentioned from my previous thread? The one who's been killing me inside Freeport?

Well, it seems he must read the forums, because apparently he's been stalking me. I was just killed by the SAME CMDR 7 times within an hour at 5 different stations. I've been trading around the starting planets, i Bootis, Erenin, etc, and every... Single... Time I docked, he was inside the station waiting for me. At peak, I had a Cobra Mk. III with about 300,000 credits. I'm now at 700 credits because of being dumb and paying insurance every time I died.

I was not wanted, I had no bounty on my head. He got zero credits for killing me.

Frontier REALLY needs to fix that dang bug so he can't sit inside the stations anymore. I love this game, but after two days of not being able to make a single trade without him killing me, he's just making me not want to play this amazing game.

I'm sure the inside station issue will be fixed, but why didn't you just evade to solo online?

How can a player 'follow' someone into different locations? I didn't think this was possible.

They're just doing it to get a rise on the forums, the PVP threads are buried so there'll be griefing for a while until the galaxy is opened up.

How about someone who has 2 Frontier accounts, each using a different CMDR name?
Suppose 1 of those names is on your friends-list ingame.

And maybe 2 different PC's...play the game on 1, and watch a friendslist (in main menu) on a 2nd machine.
That way, he/she always knows where you're about, and can try to get in the same instance.

Anyway..don't take it personally, maybe I'm the next victim.:D
That's why I always keep enough Cr to sustain my Viper-pilot's life in Open Play...I try to hold 250k or so, and do a bit of trading (mostly in Solo) when I get to around 200k.
So I sell my Viper, get a Hauler, and do a few runs untill I earned 80-100k, and swich back to the Viper, Online.

Synthetic Frost; (You have to) go 'solo-online' after one of these 'pathetic PKings'. Don't give this PC any satisfaction; -you'll just disappear. It will frustrate him and eventually convince him he's wasting his time. This ducky will be the one shedding (tears) over people slipping back and forth between solo-play and multiplayer.

And don't talk about it on the forums; He will just be looking for it to get his jolly's. I know Ive' <nijad> this response.

Please report locations for this trouble here, as it happens.

No need for names.

Just request assistance from those willing and able. We'll be happy to attend. :)

firm but fair

I do believe following someone in this game is possible, it's just luck as to whether you get into the same island, and not with 2 accounts although yeh that would make it really kinda easy, You never said what ship you were in but am assuming it's a hauler or something that cant stand a beating long enough to dock inside a station. Anyway it's obvious your jump options are limited in a small ship so there are only so many places you can go, were you killed 7 times in a row like 7 out of 7 dockings ? Or was it like 7 out of 15 dockings, the guy would only have to wait round in a few stations he knows you go to in order to troll you that way I guess, I often just hang around stations waiting inside for wanteds, you just keep docking and undocking so you have 10 minutes to wait inside docking and 4 minutes. So if you did a run from eranin to i bootis and back he would just have to stay in eranin to kill you twice :)

Oh geez. I thought the solo mode was an entirely seperate "campaign" or save. I thought I'd have to start a new game basically. I feel stupid now. I've switched to solo mode, reported the player, and made back about half of what I had at peak. Thanks guys.

But to answer your questions, I was in a Viper when I first encountered him the other day, and I managed to win against him once or twice, but since he's started camping in the stations, he waits in silent running mode until I'm basically on the pad, unable to react anymore, then he 1 or 2 shots me with a four-cannon salvo.

I've been in a Cobra the last few times, and he straight up outmaneuvers me within the station in that Viper of his. But now that I know I can go to Solo mode and keep all my stuff, I've just switched to that for the time being.

Join a group, like Mobius; check my sig.
We play nice :) Problem solved!

In this FAQ there is an explanation at the bottom of the first thread how "griefing" shall be handled.

It seems not up and running for the time being, however it shows that there are plans to regulate such behaviour in the future.

It is possible to follow! Well, sort of. I cruised around to different places with a guy. We would know the destination in advance, but I could see him in Super cruise and when we got to our spot.

It's pretty easy to follow people if you're already familiar with the system you're in. As you visit and leave the same ports over and over again, you tend to memorize which way you have to point coming out of the dock to make your jump.

For instance, if I'm leaving I Bootis and am headed to Erenin, I pretty much always have to make a "U-turn" out of Chango Dock. So when I see someone doing the same, especially if he's in a ship that has a relatively short jump drive capacity, I know exactly where he's headed. And if you're really skilled at using super-cruise, you could even beat him there.

You just have to be observant and use constellations or nearby planets to orient yourself relative to being "up or down", as there is no such thing in space.

With that said, I don't mind a bit of PvP. I relish the opportunity to improve my piloting skills. I'm not mad at the player who was grieving me. If you've been to Freeport in the last few days, you've likely run into him, so we all know who it is at this point. (I've already received several PM's asking me if it was the same guy, and it was.) I just don't see the point. There's no profit or skill involved in what he's doing. It genuinely baffles me. I don't understand his motivation.

As for joining a group, I'm hesitant to do so for a few reasons. I've been involved with groups and guilds in other games for years. And it always ends the same way.

If you'll read my post history, you'll find out I'm on 600ms Satellite. Now, I've gotten used to playing games on it, and I'm good enough in other games like WoW where I can do things in advance to "stay ahead of the lag". But after a while I'll run into a circumstance where my lag simply holds me back, and I end up getting replaced or left behind.

I haven't really had anyone in Elite: Dangerous fly along side me to even tell me how bad the lag is. I probably warp pretty badly, and wouldn't be of much help in a dogfight.

Not pushing, just clarifying.
It's not that kinda group. It's a game mechanic where you go online only with members of that group. Since it's PVE (vs AI only), you don't get ganked out of the blue. You can share the 'verse with like-minded players.

Well, that was kinda my point, I don't mind the PvP. I just dislike the fact that I live in an area where I've always had such a disadvantage. Put me on a good connection and I get very competitive. lol
