Sometime ago, i posted a thread on here asking for help in Diagnosing why i suddenly was getting rapid Grey flashes not only when in game, but even when just in the Steam VR home. It happened so much it made wearing the headset impossible. I had no such grey screens for the previous 3 months of using my Vive Pro, it happened suddenly!!
I got some great advice from members on here, but alas none of it worked. So i was forced to either sell the damn headset or succumb to opening a support case with the Vive support peps! (If any HP Verb's had been available i would have sold then and there and bought a VERB!!
Eventually they replied to my email, and advised me to carry out a whole host of remedies, some of which i had already tried and failed to work. None-the-less, i did carry out their instructions to the letter.
None worked, suprise suprise! so back to Vive support, a week later i got another reply with even more 'Things' to do, which consisted of removing everything software, drivers, & hardware, and re-installing, (A well know last ditch time wasting ploy most support centers use to ward off the public!).
Yes you guessed it nothing worked. Not even a Totally blacked out game room with NO LIGHT AT ALL!
So having read somewhere that the Ver 2.0 base stations i had went faulty and where extremely sensitive to reflections leading to loss of tracking and the dreaded 'Grey Flashes'. So i hunted down and bought a 2nd hand ver 1.0 base station, and it arrived yesterday....................NO MORE BLOODY GREY FLASHES!!!!!!
However, with only one base station, when i turned my head to view above or behind me i lost tracking, which is understandable, so i have placed the single right in front of me, and i only lose tracking now when i turn left or right extremely. I do need another Ver 1.0 base station, so if anybody has one for sale, please let me know.
I have posted this so if anybody else is suffering from Rapid Grey flashing screens in VR, and is using ver 2.0 Base Stations , then they might want to try this fix. Yes expensive, but at least it has got me back in the game again, Although in my game absence i have had a great time flying 737's in X-Plane
I have yet to see what Vive support will say about this, and who knows in another week or more i might get to read their reply !!!! They are certainly not the fastest in responding!
