Griefers are killing this game............

...well for me at least they are.

Last night (and for the second time in a week) I was interdicted, rammed by a cheap throwaway ship (to get my shields to near zero) and then destroyed by a python & 2 anacondas who dropped in on their mates beacon. 2 anacondas + a python Vs. my by now crippled ship is neither a fair fight nor fun.

My status (in all systems) is clean and I was carrying no cargo. So what is the purpose off the assault, other than to grief and increase someone's bounty value (as party of the now common bounty farming exploit)?

Griefing, pure & simple. No other purpose. SO, next time, I will indeed combat log out of there, and if FD have a problem with that then they can take a hike I'm afraid because I agree with FD that unsporting behaviour should not get rewarded and this particular form of griefing for bounty increases to be collected by your mates is just not on.

It is pretty obvious what is going on and FD better act before their game dies.
.
A bunch of "Solo" players, who wanted the Offline game, have spent an age trading in Solo to get the best ships, and THEY are the "greifers" coming in to Open.....they are already bored with the game, and still angry at the "No Offline" mode....so they figure the best way to get what they want is to destroy open.
.
FD needs to lock a player to a mode or their game is dead. The Open/Solo mechanic is being abused to destroy their game..........but maybe FD want it like that, they have the sales money already so best if it dies fast and they can move on to new things.

Where is your proof of this being players moving from open?

Why do you think removing switching modes is going to fix this? Would be griefers can still amass the required credits in open, all you'll achieve is removing the "escape route" into solo for the victims.

not griefing legitimate gameplay goodguys and bad guys what really is killing the game are players calling everything that goes against them griefing

Yup. Entirely legitimate. Game design allows it.

Does not mean it is either right or should carry no penalties. Currently very poor security implementation.

I'm sorry for the experience

Solo until FD implement a proper set of security protocols.

Pretty unfortunate for u there m8 with the annie's. If you want a couple of wing-men theres loads of CMDRs out there who would be willing to join you, if there was a couple of vipers watching your back this would have probably gone down differently. Better luck next time

OP: Try and stay away from the more busy space-lanes, and you won't see a single griefer. Maybe some proper pirates, but they are only interested in your cargo. I've played in open since launch, and never been griefed once. Then again, I also steered well clear of the starter areas and anything within 20LY of Lave.

These days, griefers can try - but flying in a pack with some heavy hitters means it will only remain an attempt. :)

It's been mentioned in another thread where someone was simply playing the game to find new Steam players who had literally just started out and he was picking them off. I'd think the game mechanic is already there, destroying a clean Human Cmdr should come with a HUGE fine, also their insurance should be invalidated so if they do lose their ship they have to go back to a Sidewinder, in effect they start again. Word would get round and I think people would stop doing it.

I have nothing against players playing to tackle other human commanders but the ones who simply target the weak are the sort of people who would kick a stick away from an old person in the street. Or who would kick a football away from kids who are playing

Paranoid much? Seriously...

It's not a problem of players abusing the solo mechanic, it's a problem with the lacking anti griefing measures and the easily abused bounty system. I'm pretty sure FD are aware of that. In the meantime, play solo or with people you know, which is much more enjoyable anyways... I mean, what's the point of playing open in the first place? Right now, there is non, besides making yourself a target for griefers.

^ Exact same experience for me (minus one first week in Solo). Your typical Griefer wants needs easy victims. Don't be the fish in griefers' barrel. It's not hard to do.

Oh my god! It's a game with pirates and bad guys that have human level intelligence! Where the AI is so good, it will even just be plain mean for the sake of it occasionally!

Where you can lose if you are not powerful and/or skilled enough.

Where you can travel in groups to defend yourselves against groups of marauders.

Nah, it will never catch on.

Seriously, loosen up. Stop being attached to every run and every ship. Stop measuring your happiness by your credits and just have a bit of fun...

Make players no different from the NPCs on the radar. BAM, problem solved. Of course the NPCs would be hauling valuable goods instead of the trash they have now, so the pirates still get to earn money.

I have had this a while back, the same two people that were doing it were reported but like most MMO's nothing was done, so there is no point in reporting it, they are too scared of being sued to ban people.

Best bet is to head out away from these areas and into unknown space or play in solo or a group with a good reputation like Mobius.

That's a interesting theory, do you have any facts to back up your statements.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've read this week. And that's saying something this week.

If they make weapons phase through other CMDRs without doing any damage people would stop shooting at each other as well. How can you say you have nothing agains people tackling people after proposing basically an account wipe should you attack someone and get destroyed.

In my experience far too few people actually try to engage other CMDRs in combat.
