Grinding for absolutely no discernible reason?

Do any of you find yourself doing this? Just curious.

Sometimes I have goals - I've been working on that, trying to come up with things to do in the game - but there are other times when I'll have an hour to kill and think, meh, may as well make a few million before dinner, despite having no plan to spend the credits on anything.

It's starting to feel a bit habitual.

Merely thinking aloud. *shrug*

Nice topic but please define grind in your view. Its subjective :p
To me grind means anything you do purely to enjoy the thing after the "grind". So for example grinding credits to enjoy an FDL. Whereas making credits for an FDL by enjoying the game is not grinding imo.

On my definition I've grinded once for the princess community goal spree to catch that assassin. So much RES combat, so many credits in a week. Sure I made over 150mil in that week alone but I needed a 2 week exploration trip after to recover :p

From my experience, every game require some grinding, but after introducing of PP Elite need less grinding than ever. For me it takes only two moderate game sessions (or one long one) in a week is enough not to be worried about cr. income anymore (50 mil week is a good money).

2 ideas;1 jump on the unknown artifact mission, trie to either figure it out or find more of theese to test(not sell)
2 learn to fly ffa

In all seriousness, I've started flying my anaconda in high intensity combat zones and open in PP areas without the insurance rebuy. Today I was beaten down to 23% hull before the other Cmdr got blowed up. 600,000 cr. repair bill but the fun and fear was worth it.

Done it plenty. Odd thing is, it's more entertaining and relaxing than setting myself any other home cooked goal with no purpose.

I have very little interest in combat, done one exploration trip to last me a life time, can't seem to find any identification value with any faction, power etc and mining i don't even want to mention.

Whenever i try to break the mould for a bit, i quickly run out of steam and return to A-B'ing.

Sounds like the game has gotten so boring you're hanging the baby out the window to shock yourself into feeling alive again.

I did, then I had enough for a clippe rso I tried to grind for local rep and thats more fun than trading, but im back in my type 7 and the couriers in the garrage again, just find myself doing it for no reason, I guess rep grinding is pointless as navy missions dont pop up and dont mean much when you get them

Yeah, awesome game design when players have to invent and conduct unnecessary risks just to feel a rush.
