GTX 1080ti and Supersampling

Ey up,
So with the "up to 35%" performance boost a 1080ti gives over a straight 1080 - I was wondering if a decent frame rate at x2 supersampling would be realistic?
Also and related,
I hear that the 2.3 beta has performance gains in VR (although the feedback is mixed) if hypothetically this made x2 SS feasible on a 1080 is there much to be gained by going over x2 given the resolution of the HMD's available at the mo?
Consequently,
Do I get my 1080 on ebay now?

Enough here have been lusting for this card, you'll have your answer within a couple of weeks, no doubt.

Even though I just bought a 1080 I'm getting one of these bad boys shipped over as soon as they become available. The more juice the better!!!! :p

it is a huge difference from 1.0 to 1.3. any higher SS does not make that much of a visual difference. no reason to upgrade from a 1080 to a 1080ti unless you want real 90FPS in all situations

just my 2 cents

so me and my Vive don't like too munch new beta 2.3 , the same settings like in 2.2 (Gtx 1080 ,i7 steam vr 2.0, ss 1.0, low shadows , no AA no ambient, high settings ) geting 10~15 fps less at all situations in game, unplayable for me, and there is no separate visual quality settings for so called Holo-Me... Waiting for gtx 1080 ti now

But thats the holy grail, right there ;)
1.3 SS and genuine 90fps.

I run 1.6 ss in ED, the extra 35% stock and most likely even more overclocked should easily be enough to run 2.0 ss. Thinking about selling my 1080 for a ti ^_^

I do not use mine in VR but I started by offering the GPU (GTX 1080 ACX) a chance to show me the gold by cranking everything up to Ultra and running the GPU at full-speed via the GPU's software interface and it delivered though my monitor has a frame-rate limit of 60.

Crank it up and see if it works!

Emphasis is on the "up to." Love marketing people. What is a "straight 1080" baseline? Reference card, non-OC? Real-world results will always vary and it'll be a while before drivers and ED itself are optimized (special emphasis on the latter), not to mention Oculus software optimizations (in my case).

I wouldn't cast a verdict on 2.3 Beta just yet but it's safe to say when Frontier keeps cramming more features and advanced rendering into the no extra raw horsepower will go underutilized for long.

Just look at the Titan X' (overclocked) performance, since the Ti wil be in roughly the same spot. In the end a 1080Ti won't hit 90FPS all the time, even at low quality.

In most situations yeh unless its busy then asw kicks in, but you dont notice. Only reason i know is because ive got temp usage and mem showing on desktop display.

amazing. I get FPS drops with anything higher than 1.3SS.

Keep in mind that GPU load goes up by the square, pretty much, when supersampling, at which point 35% (as marketed - let's see what real-world tests say :7) no longer seems that much. :7

I'll be considering upgrading anyway, because between supersampling, and choosing 8k/4k planet and skybox textures, I get a bit of other mipmaps streaming out, now and then -- 11GB of graphics memory, over my current 6, should be quite nice. :7

Quick question - do you guys mean SS or do you mean "HMD Quality" (the thing that used to be "Pixels Per Pixel" in the Oculus Debug tool)?
