GTX 970 to SLI or not

im running a gtx 970 and i7

single monitor its fine at 2560x1440 on high, no probs, the rift is a different kettle o fish

1080p on medium/high hold 75fps most of the time(some systems are just laggeeie), 2560x1440p however, even with a massive overclock........... well, ill put it to you this way, either a 2nd gtx970 is going in or I buy the r9 390x when its available, and lets face it, the CV rift should have a higher res than dk2 so your going to need alot of horsepower. at the moment, 1xgtx 970 @2560x1440 is not enough for 75fps solid, even on low! sorry to burst anyones bubble :D

I use a GTX 970 and I have a DK2. I find I can't play at the highest quality without losing the required 75FPS. You can play the game at a much lower quality and be fine but if you really want to make use of VR when the consumer version is released you may want to SLI your 970.

I'm planning on doing that at some point since it future proofs my PC to handle pretty much any game for this year (Hopefully).

Personally the added latency in SLI mode drove me nuts when I was running 2x970s in SLI. I ended up just running with SLI off. Then I sold them both and got a 980.

If they can ever make SLI work without the latency I'll buy another 980 maybe :)

I run with 2 x 970s and SLI - don;t have any problems at all. Runs smooth.

I'm running 980 SLI with ultra settings (except AA off due to super sampling) and 2560 x 1440, and it's perfectly smooth. I'm not sure what the latency looks like but if I have it, it's definitely not an issue for me because my setup feels incredibly smooth.
