So, everyone's getting all excited about a thargoid mothership, which I agree is a cool and somewhat terrifying idea. But any guardian log will tell you that they had incredibly advanced fsd and shield technologies. They could cover entire cities with impenetrable shield bubbles, and that they colonised other planets, presumably with a massive generation ship or an ark of some kind.
My question is, if they had such impenetrable shields and such advanced fsd's, and if the constructs killed off all the guardians, then there must be some bigger ruins somewhere, or a stranded guardian megaship, then why haven't we found any trace of them? I am aware that space is big, really big (rattles off the rest of the hitchhiker's intro), but given the amount of restless explorers and the big 'ol ram tah thingo, i would have thought that we would have stumbled across a non-human signal source or a massive abandoned city somewhere. I am also aware that it almost definitely hasn't been added to the game. But if so, that's a big bit of lore we're missing. Massive civilisation gets killed off and leaves behind nothing except a few derelict data towers and floating hard drives with some immortal guard dogs.
You'd expect them to leave more of a trace. Wouldn't you?
