Guardian FSD Booster: Focus Crystals Synuefe JB-G B58-6 6 H

IMO, it's smart to collect as much mats as possible while playing, like that you already have them when you need them. Then there's no need to try to minmax the game by relogging and other grind shenanigans.
I tend to agree from a gameplay perspective. However, since all I've really done so far is a little trading and a lot of exobiology, I'm not likely to come across manufactured mats in the wild. Perhaps once I start combat missions, but I'm not there yet.

If you fly in inhabited systems, scan all the ships that you can, and also get a wake scanner to scan some wakes as you travel. That would be a good start on collecting encoded mats. Once you start combat get a k-warrant scanner to increase payout. You can always go to a high res and help the system security ships. Once the target has gotten the shields and 50% hull stripped get into the fun. They won't shoot back at you as you've done much less damage than the other ships. A good way to get started, and also bring some limpets and a collection limpet controller, then hover up the manufactured materials as they drop. For raw mats you can collect some by mining or shooting/collecting stuff with the SRV, but best are probably brain trees and the crystal shards.

Alright, well I have access to GFSD Booster. Can I assume that I can buy the 5H model (it's available) but it needs a size 5 slot, yes?

The only optional component that I can dump that's size 5 is my cargo rack. But I'm not sure if I should do so and it has me wondering if I need a bigger ship with more slots.

Opinions? I'm in an AspX... does the DBX have more slot space?

My AspX has:

6A Fuel Scoop
5H Guardian FSD Booster
3D Shields
3B AFMU (which could be anything else)
2G Planetary Hangar (size 3 slot, could move into size 2 slot)
1E Supercruise (size 2 slot could be anything)
1E Docking Assist (size 2 slot could be anything)
1 DSS

Lots of options. For an explorer ship having the supercruise assist is nice because it gives you the automatic stop when arriving at a star.
DBX has same number of slots (8) but smaller.

Edit: It depends on what you want to do with the ship.
  • Deep space exploration AspX. DBX, Phantom, Orca, Anaconda are all popular ships.
  • General bubble missions so many options. Python, Krait MK II, and Phantom are great flexible ships.
  • My first general purpose ship was a T6 until I got a Python.

DBX and AspX have the same total number of slots (8) but a different distribution plus the biggest slot in the DBX is a size 4 which leads to some slow scooping.
