Whilst I appreciate the galaxy is huge and the size needs to be conveyed, I am conscious the longer I play this game, the more aware I am of the proportion of time spent in SC or jumping compared to other game play. I can largely avoid the SC issue, I can engineer my ship, use the neutron highway to boost jumping, but is it enough?
My feeling is it isn't. When we had CG's I would log on, check the goal and realise I was so far away from it that by the time I reached it my gameplay time would be over, so effectively dead content for me.
My bad luck on one hand, but also arguable flawed content, because it's intended for the players as something different each week. After a while I stopped bothering to check.
Guardian tech is being used to fight the Thargoid menace, but one of the issues is being able to react to a threat in another distant location in a timely manner.
What if some (not all)Guardian sites were connected and if you had visited the two connected sites you could travel between them instantly. If you had one site in each sector of the galaxy like this, it would allow movement between sectors. Each Guardian site would be connected to one or two others and not all sites, so that discovering and visiting the sites to unlock them becomes an element of gameplay. The sites would need to be found, visited by a player who wanted to use them, so it would not cut out the original travel times, but then subsequently would enable movement. It wouldn't stop the need to move within a sector, so there would still be travel, but player flexibility is improved.
All it needs is some pads at some Guardian sites, a service menu with an option to a representation of a set of nodes based on the galaxy sector map in existence with the nodes available and you pick one. Your ship moves instance to the target site and you then launch from the pad there.
