Guardian Gauss + Plasma...why didn't I get into this earlier?

After spending about 50 million in Krait rebuy costs, I decided to give my late adventure in getting into the whole Thargoid deal a mich needed break and focus on Guardian builds... stowing my engineered human gimballed tech for awhile. The result is I have unlocked and installed a 6A Guardian distributor, 6A Guardian plant, Guardian hull modules, Guardian module reinforcement, and Guardian shield reinforcement. I also have the 5E FSD boost for non-combat builds.

Since the Guardian weapons are all fixed (I fail at and fear fixed configurations), I decided to take my configuration to the high rez zone (holding on the haz rez, for now). Knowing that Guardian weapons don't fair well on human tech(or so I thought) I figured internal security could pick up my lack of ability and capability. Well, turns out these weapons rock against human vessels and 2x Guardian gauss doesn't overheat my systems nearly as bad as I've heard...not sure why either because the Guardian PP and PD add slightly more heat to my build. If I fire off three shots, back-to-back, I get maybe 111% heat...and that's not bad at all. Now I don't know how the Gauss compares to an engineered rail gun, nor how the Guardian plasma charger compares to the regular one, since I'm new to fixed setups, but I had an ASP down in pretty much 4 shots...one charged plasma shot, and roughly 3 dead on Gauss shots, with some weird fractional amount of hull life left, as I recall. I even two-shot an Eagle into oblivion, which I found hilarious, but was a good test of marksman ship.

I'm starting to learn that! I'm still not assistance off good, though...but I can see how aiming is more fluid and less twitchy in assistance off mode. I just can't control the whirly motions yet lol.

Yeah, I just fly my Krati with two plasma chargers (size three, turreted for Multicrew, use them in forward fire mode when I have no crew) and two gauss, just all the time.

This means I can just drop into Thargoid signals and fight, and just do normal stuff too.

I actually added a size three plasma accelerator as well recently.

Nice. I should test with dual chargers. I have only the one class 3, and two remote flaks (namely for swarm). I haven't faced a Cyclops yet since putting this build together, though, so hopefully it goes well. I'm just stalking up on ammo/ synthesis for the Guass first.

So, a few things you ought to know....

First, the guardian tech equipment is all inferior to regular Engineered stuff, even for the sake of caustic resistance - you get more effective HP against caustic damage with engineered HRPs than you do with the guardian ones. The one exception are the Guardian MRPs, though the benefit they offer is very niche. (And, of course, there's no parallel with the Guardian Shield Reinforcement thing, but that also is a sorta situational piece of equipment anyhow.)

Second, it's AX weapons that don't do well against humans (except for the caustic missile thing that is inversely specialised for use against humans); Guardian weapons are useful against both humans and thargoids.

Third...personally speaking 111% is still significant, I guess I have higher standards of ideally keeping heat under 100% at all times though. :p

Fourth, the Gauss cannons and Plasma chargers are both significantly different from Railguns and Plasma Accelerators. Best bet is to compare the stats found on coriolis/edshipyard/wikia/inara/etc.

Fifth is just subjective opinion that real men level up combat rank around Compromised Nav Beacons and in Conflict Zones, instead of stealing kill credit from local authorities in what's supposed to be a place that's good for mining.

Real men level up combat rank killing thargoids.

And you're over estimating my gamer skills. I can't hit each specific heart consistently, but I can land hits on a body...anywhere lol

Awesome, so you'll do just fine then with the ammo you have. Heck, half the time the thargoids do the aiming for you.
