Guardian module

Hi all. I've been playing for a bit now. Finally decided I was going to give engineering a shot. So I went with the first engineer that gave me larger jump range. Got my anaconda up to 44 Ly. The purpose was to go get guardian modules and weapons. So my question is with all the engineering and guardian what is the best to get? I want to eventually fight the thyogiods or how ever you spell them. But I want to just be able to explore and mine and maybe just fight elite ranked computer ships and not get my handed too me. Could someone share with me what are the best modules to go for and give me a reason why? Same with engineering?

The FSD booster is the only must-have Guardian module.

You lose almost nothing by not getting the rest except for a bit of variety for the sake of variety. I unlocked both sizes of plasma chargers, one size of Guardian rail, one of the fighters and the shield boosters before deciding I never want to play that minigame again as long as I live.

As for engineering, that's too broad a question for me personally.

If you want to fight Thargoids eventually, i would 100% get gauss cannons unlocked.
And Prof Palin will get you G5 engineered thrusters, they are proper worthy!

Good luck

Sorry it's so broad. Maybe this will help. The first engineer that gave fsd range I unlocked and boosted range. Got to level three. But I remember that on a forum somewhere someone said for the anaconda to use a specific mod for getting better range and I don't remember. I want to use my alliance chieftain more as well so I am trying to figure out which engineering route to go because I'm confused on how the engineering works

I mean, there's a lot of help pages out there.

You want as many levels of Increased Range as you can. If it's a large ship, add the Mass Manager special effect. If it's a small ship, add Deep Charge. I don't remember offhand where the cut off between those two is for max/min, memory says Class 5 drive but you should google to be sure.

And play with a ship builder like coriolis.io, lets you test engineering for free.

Just go with mass manager for both and max out the grade 5. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/403010-Mass-Manager-vs-Deep-Charge

For Guardian modules the FSD booster is a very nice thing to have, it would be the first thing I'd get assuming I had engineering unlocked.
The Guardian power plant and distributor are handy to have available, as with other Guardian modules, they are roughly a grade 4 engineered module, so a real upgrade from your normal A module.
I have the plasma and gauss weps unlocked, but rarely use them (I don't fight bugs, but still glad to have them to play around with).
The Guardian shield boosters are also nice to have, as they can really change the dynamics of some ships with poor shield values and limited utility slots.

As for engineering, FSD & Thrusters and PD really change the capabilities of a ship. Shield and Hull related blueprints can make health values and resistances obscene. The weapon ones can make non engineered weapons feel like pea shooters, and also offer different effects that can be nice. I'd say all of those are really game changers, and the variety of lightweight mods can help out an exploration build or a speed focused one.
