Guardian Modules

Besides the Guardian FSD Booster, is there any reason to get the other modules if you aren't doing AX gameplay?
Are the power plant and distributor really super cool? Maxx Power?

Unless you've avoided all engineering I don't think the Guardian power plant and distributor offer anything. The shield booster can be nice. Guardian hull reinforcements are good for AX as they give caustic resistance. The FSD booster is indeed the only real shiny. Guardian weapons used to be meta for AX but now there are improved ones available from Rescue ships.

I find the Guardian powerplant fits into a nice 'middle spot' between an Overcharged and an Armoured powerplant.
Higher power generation than Armoured, higher integrity than an Overcharged.
Of course the inverse is also true - Lower power generation than an Overcharged, lower integrity than an Armoured...
...Sometimes it's handy though!

Guardian Shield Reinforcements are good if you want a Shield Heavy build.

Guardian Hull Reinforcements give more HP than a Grade 1 Heavy Duty modified Hull Reinforcement Package, but less resistance buffs. Only really good if you want a Guardian Build.
Guardian Module Reinforcements offer marginally more integrity on the module itself over standard Module Reinforcements, with added power drain.

Guardian Power Distributor gives you a +4% (or something) max power headroom to your Power Plant. So basically your max power line (where modules begin to disable if over) stays the same, capacity stays the same but it allows a +4% headroom over that, before your modules actually disable. Kinda like a Bank's Overdraft limit.

Guardian Power Plant, again if you want a Guardian build kinda thing really.

It's a shame that they don't have a G1 modification given to them or an experimental to make the viable and not be one of those things left to gather dust like Shock Cannons.

Or that they don't have better synchronisation (like we thought when they came out) and offer boosts when using Guardian modules together.

OK, thanks.
Sounds like I should just stick with the Booster for now. I don't do a lot of combat, whether PvE or PvP.
With the Thargoid SCO FSD & the Booster it takes my JOAT unoptimized Cobra Mk V up to 50.74 ly max jump.

Module and Shield reinforcements, yes.
FSD Booster...a must have.
These are beneficial across the board and work well on none AX ships.

Guardian HRPs offer caustic res but you get more benefit from a normal HRP that's G5 heavy duty as the increase in armour is more than the GHRPs caustic res benefit.

Most of my ships have Guardian powerplants and distributors. Because they're "pre-engineered" and available for credits, it's less hassle. I only have a few ships which really justify fitting (and engineering) anything else.

Shield boosters are great on small ships if you have the power budget.

Module reinforcement is basically more protection at the cost of power.

Modified plasma chargers are one of the most fun weapons in the game if your distributor can handle them (4 medium ones just about work with a charge enhanced 6A distro if you move your pips about).

Fighters are great to sit in, especially as they have that experimental feel with crystals glowing and sparking when you boost.

My Exploration alt uses the Guardian PPs as these can be smaller than the standard one.

My Bubble alt uses the Guardian shield boosters on dedicated combat vessels.

FWIW, I seem to recall that if you fit a Guardian PP and PDist together there's some kind of extra benefit... although I doubt it'll compete with a normal PP/PDist engineered exactly how you want them.

Main reason I unlocked the Guardian PP/PDist was that, back in the day, there was a very poor selection of modules in Colonia but you could buy Guardian stuff there, so unlocking the Guardian modules meant you could build a half-decent ship and not have to worry about wasting engineering mat's on a C-rated PDist or whatever.

On a related note, I suppose, the Guardian modules can sometimes be useful for getting a half-finished ship to fly if you need to engineer an overcharged PP.
Course, these days, with pinned blueprints available, that's not likely to be much of an issue.

Personally, I'd say the Guardian shield-booster is almost as much of a must-have as the FSD booster.
For combat ships, obviously, every extra bit of shield helps but they can also be handy by allowing you to fit a smaller shield in, say, a cargo ship and then filling up the mil' slots with GSBs to compensate.
