Just think of it like Pokemon, you caught a shiny relic. It's a reskin with a few differences. They don't work at guardian module/weapon sites, but do unlock the guardian vessel sites. The thargoid device won't accept them to create an unknown relic like it will with a regular relic either. Without much knowledge of guardian timelines, I assumed they were a more advanced form of relic.
