Guardian "SRV" Hovercraft

Seems as we have magically held together SLFs now, I thought, why not a magical floating Guardian Tech "SRV"...?

Significantly easier to develop for FD because no moving parts, no suspension, etc. It's basically an SLF, than can't fly very well. Lol

It hovers just a meter off the ground, and is significantly faster than the SRV, but also much more fragile. Somewhere in the region of 80m/s (or 178mph!), in ideal gravity (0.5).
Higher and lower gravity will slow you down, or speed you up, respectively.

Fuel consumption is also based entirely on the local gravity. High gravity=high fuel consumption, to, y'know, keep you hovering.

Unlike the SRV, it doesn't have a turret, it has the same twin plasma repeaters, but on a gimballed mount instead, but because it hovers, it can change its direction very quickly, be it with some "drift".(Like a hovercraft).
As well as tilt up and down to allow weapon tracking.

Like the jump jet function on the SRV, the Guardian SRV can jump too, but it's not recommended, as bottoming out is quite harsh on the wheel-less Guardian SRV. Lol

Controls work slightly differently, the gSRV can't roll, and will always try to level off, but will bank at high speeds for cornering control.
It's main axis of movement are yaw, and acceleration, it can strafe, and stop quite quickly, as well as reverse at around 30% of its forward speed.

Cargo the same as the SRV, as in 2.
Shields are slightly weaker.

Fuel and ammo synthesis are identical to the SRV, but hull repair costs some guardian materials, and elements.

Thargoids find these guardian SRVs offensive and will attack them after scanning!

Done!

It just needs a name!

while I was reading this, all of a sudden I was reminded of an old twin-stick arcade game I played once called Cyber Sled and I would absolutely like to recreate that experience.

Before you read the rest of this, know that I do think this is a cool idea, and I would like to see more SRV types added in general. However, I do have some (hopefully constructive) criticism:

I worry that gameplay using this vehicle would not be sufficiently different from piloting a regular ship or SLF. As it is, 90% of this game is some form of flight. Maybe more than that.

On the other end of the spectrum, there’s the possibility that it wouldn’t be sufficiently different from driving a Scarab; it would just be less attention-demanding, because (presumably) rough terrain wouldn’t impede it as much.

I also do not agree with the gimballed weapons part of your proposal. The SRV turret already acts more or less like a gimballed weapon during normal driving, and so, SO often, it will lock on to shootable items in such a way as to prevent actually hitting them. Like, it will target an outcrop, but it will be pointing at the ground just beneath it instead of at the actual rock (and the actual hitbox). This especially happens (to me, anyway) at surface geological sites with crystalline clusters, piceous cobbles, etc.

Additionally, maybe it would work different with a hovering vehicle, but the turret is often a necessity just because of the angle at which shootable objects often sit relative to the terrain around them. There will be bumps or inclines or whatever which put my SRV at an odd angle, such that I can only target the shootable object by switching to turret mode.

Reminds me of a thread I made one time mapping out different SRV's
Two were hovering SRV's called the butterfly and the wasp. But they used a variant of the sentinel drone's plasma propulsion dyson rings.

+1 to floating guardian SRV
