am I being stupid or doing something wrong or are the random gods not being kind


I have decided to to the guardian weapon unlock dance. I already have some guardian components after doing a ram tah mission as well as getting the FSD booster and defensive modules.....
but only had 22or so guardian tech components

I am gonna need a lot of these however after 2 full laps unlocking 2 weapon blueprints I have not unlocked a single part

according to google these are common drops. what am I missing?

I've been there! Tech components aren't that common. Good news is, the loot is not random, so if you find a spot that drops one you can relog-loop to get more.

For instance, at the Guardian site at Synuefe NL-N C23-4 planet B3 (for Guardian module blueprints) there are 3 spots, one of which yields 2, the others one tech component each - that's 4(x3) tech components per relog.

dunno I was trying to shoot any panels I saw. I just got a lot of power couplings (could be making name up). @t-lo that is great info. I didn't know it was a fixed drop. maybe there just isn't one at the site I am at. thanks so much for the location and the image .
I will make a visit there

fwiw, the tech component is not common, the 2 power items are though.

from that particular image, 2 locations are not marked
2 of the 3 leaning towers where it says x2 have the tech component (looks like just a variation of this type of site)

and up by the orb on the left side at the end of the wall that is to the left of the pylon. that one is tricky and likes to fly at superspeed if you don't hit it just right.

either way the max I have found is 4 panels with tech component.

if you look you can find an image for each site. with everything marked nicely.
pretty sure cannon has all that. and several other cmdrs.

As Milesred says they are in fixed spots, it's pot luck whether you land at one with the spawns.

Try the site on: WREGOE CQ-G D10-153 C 2

It has 6 tech components in a small area, sorry but I don't have a map of exact locations. Make sure you shoot the planels on structures as well as pillars, at least 1 is on them.

From memory you can pick up 5 without getting sentinals if that's helpful, there's a proximity trigger around the one closest to the central 'road'

edit: my link says it's a Tiny no.2 site, I'm assuming there are maps somewhere, unhelpfully I don't have that linked

You can see the panels on your radar. Note where you find the GTC. Then try make a little map.

This might be the most limiting material in ED. People complain about Pharmasutical isolators and blueprints but these baby's are the one you need a lot of AND are rare. Lucky as stated about they are relatively easy to find and farm.

thanks for all the info above . I must have not looked closely or missed it as the site I am on does have 2 panels with the needed part in. whilst there are better, it also has the weapon blueprint I need and I am already here so that will do.

I have 60 of the tech part and 10 weapon blueprints and most of my other guardian parts bins are full or almost full I don't need to unlock everything in this visit anyway so I am sorted.
maybe do a few more runs and then it's off to mbooni (I think it's called) to do some shopping.

will also unlock at least the vanilla gaus cannon as well

very easy to miss things the first time or few times at a guardian site

especially if you find it as cool as many of us do.

I have a sightseeing bug that kicks in.
5 minutes work takes an hour sometimes

the thargoid sites are worse for me. everything is soo much bigger and even though I have been visiting them from the first one discovered (and lots of pics), there is always something I didn't see before.

All the sites i've checked have at least 3 panels for Guardian Tech Components (so 9 components for 1 run), some have 4 and possibly there are site with more than 4 panels

So maybe recheck the site you are doing - you should be able to find 1 more panel with GTC
