Guardian weapons/SLFs - worth the unlock?

I unlocked the Guardian FSD booster years ago as it’s really useful but only grabbed one module blueprint. I’m back at the module blueprint site at the mo - in daylight this time which is really cool, it was dark when I came here last time, just grabbing more module blueprints, just 3 more runs for all 6. Are the weapons and SLFs worth bothering with or are AntiXeno specialist weapons better for bug hunting? Was going to dip my toes into the Thargoid content finally!

Like you I initially only unlocked the FSD booster but eventually unlocked some of the others.

I find the Guardian Power Plant and Distributor handy for testing new builds. Once I am happy I'll keep a build I replace the Guardian modules with grade 5 engineered modules dedicated to the ship.

I don't get involved with fighting Thargoids, I'm sure there are activities there where Guardian modules have a use but I don't have the depth of experience to offer any insight.

I don't think the SLFs are that useful (for thargoids or compared to what you can just buy) but they look cool and the guardian beacon part of the unlock was pretty neat. For m at least it was worth doing the unlocks, even with the boring driving around shooting posts for mats at the guardian sites after the fun part was over.

As been said already, Guardian SLF are good only as screenshot material.
Those being said, unlocking the Guardian SFL can be a pain due to rarity of epsilon and delta patterns

Guardian fighters would be decent as distractions if they didn't die instantly to caustic clouds(which NPCs cannot and do not bother avoiding).

It is inexplicable that we've had caustic sinks for like a year and they still haven't added them to the fighters that not only would benefit the most, but which also lack a utility of any kind.

The power plant is decent for exploration ships, Shield booster is good for combat ships.
SLFs, in and of themselves perhaps not, though the sites were high lighted twice during the narrative, so I unlocked them then.

I read that the Thargoids tend to go after ships with Guardian cargo or modules but do they actually do that ingame?

So far, explorer ships have the luxury of exploring while being under shielded & carrying no weapons at all plus quite a number of them have Guardian power plants & FSD boosters.

No Thargoids out in the black anyway - yet.

Valid point! They should really be made immune to that by now.

Trident is amazing to unlock.

So you can chill in your AFK-T-10 on your first or second Smurf account via Multi-Crew.

Flying around in the Trident wrecking large ships is fun.

Too bad NPC Crewmen are still bad with fixed weapons since update 17.

Maybe an unpopular take, but I do find the SLFs useful. Not for Thargoids, but regular mission running, they provide a good distraction, and shield stripper, while you come in with auto-cannons and turn the target into Swiss cheese.
