Guardians/2.2 first impressions

Ok, so I didn't have a play with the beta and have just had my first hour with the new 2.2 build...

1) Maybe it's just me but the graphics seem to have been tweaked. I'm loving the extra definition and "softness" in the planetary rings
2) I love the new FSD jump to new systems stuff...more colour etc...I like the new info when spooling up the FSD, however...there's info in the HUD AND the INFO panel...is this necessary? I'm thinking, have the star class displayed in the HUD along with your status etc and dispense with the info panel stuff (?)
3) How do I get rid of the "Elite Dangerous 2.2" label in the lower left hand side of my screen?
4) I really like the new layout of the station panel stuff
5) The ability to store modules is a plus albeit wasn't as intuitive at first as I hoped...it was easy enough to work out and use though....THANKS FD!

cheers

The 2.2 logo was probably left behind in error, so will be removed at the next patch I suspect(probably the same one that corrupts saves when using module storage)

Ditto, that label is annoying.

Also, is it my impression, or passenger mission rewards are too high comapred to all other PvE? I just made my second misison, take 5 guys over 78 Ly in Business class minimum, no wanted pax, no hurry, just take them there without being scanned. Grand total of 15 minutes flying & landing and bang, now I'm 12 million credits richer... that does not sound well balanced.

Yeah noticed some very high paying passenger missions where I was docked...but not much else.

Highest paying one offered was to take someone to Sag A....$38 million...I though.that's pretty good....then I saw some others for like $20mill for a 85LY hop and went, like...   !!!!

Cash in quick before first balance pass!!!

Finally

++module storage (duplicate bug will be gone soon I hope) is great stuff! I have been waiting for this.
++ship transfer. nicely done.
++CQC assets and other structures in space. still have to visit one. But I already know they will be great!
++new station-service UI - much better now!
++new power added. Watch it Yuri.
+ ECM hotkey and overhaul
+ hatchbreakers ignore shields
+pay-off fine contact: I didn't even know I have accumulated so many old fines xD
+new station interiors are neat
+ gal map and system map tweaks. nice.
+/-Powerplay Overhead is now shown (but still not correct, as some have pointed out)
+/- new engineers. omg. no. more grinding... :p
-- Interdiction always fails when flying smaller ships. For me it's a big problem and it stops me from doing what I like: undermining in powerplay

passangers, fighter-bay and crew are not on my top priority to investigate.

I don't do so many mission, this will be seen later.

And I am sure there will be lots of good stuff to explore later. Thinking about planetary stuff there.

No joke, Ive seen a passenger mission at $43mill to take them to Jaques Visitor Beacon, or something along that line? 21,000 LYs so a bit far for my liking.

To be fair you have to be on good terms with the system to get the high payout missions, Im not on good terms with anyone so the passenger missions available to me tend to be around (30K - 100K) it has actually made me feel for the first time like I need to chose a system or political group to get friendly with!

I was hoping that the imperial ships would allow at least a single luxury cabin, just because in the blurb it talks about how these imperial ships are used as high class runabouts..

all in all verry happy about it.

altho when i drop on a station or a ring, the first few moments go verry narly.. stuttering and such. think it has to do with textures loading in.
also needed to turn down the shadows from ultra to high..

running it in 7680x1440..

It's been like this for a while now...you mostly notice when you visit the same station a few or four times...and take a look at the "unavailable" missions...I noted these were often much better paying but I need to be friendly or allied.

Defintely worth the effort....especiaccly if the minor faction is allied with a major faction you want to rank up with...win-win.

It's currently quite exagerated with the passenger missions at present.

Make hay while the sun/s shine!

Well, apparently that was a login spawn thing, I haven't seen such easy & profitable missions again... best one so far 8 million for 68 Ly, fine enough but the guy was a secretive pax and he asked to take a detour to a tourist spot. Silly me I made it and next thing I knew was I had been scanned by 3 different meddlers at the tourist system nav beacon... So farewell 8 million AND passenger AND company standing because the mission failed. I would had gladly jettisoned the pax. [sour]

Lesson: avoid secretive passengers, and if you really must take them, avoid detours, fly A to B and enough.

Also, Iv'e seen a mission worth 56 million credits... for traveling to a nebula 20,300 Ly away. That was farther from my location than Sag A (have seen 38 million credits for going there, too). But the usual missions appear to range around 1 to 2 million credits, fine enough for a good standing.

Love the update. One random observation: my Anaconda looks better. The graphics seem to have been tweaked. Some of the greebles and small details like pipes and rails look more refined.

Was going to head to jaques with passengers as i was thinking to go. Then i realised i wasnt getting paid till i got back.

2.2 pretty good in my opinion. Greatly enhances the game and adds stuff that i quite want to do
