Guess miners don't do it for the money....

I find it bizarre that some people obsessively seek out the in-game activities that make them the most pretend money, even when they're sitting on a stack of 20 billion credits. Fair enough if that's what they enjoy doing, I suppose, though!

I posted this in the Beta forums: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...hat-Mining-is-fixed-let-s-fix-Mining-missions

And slightly unrelated, but this one as well:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/459591-Hijack-Missions-Get-rid-of-the-spam-cargo-please!

But broadly, it feels like FD are pushing out the core changes and haven't scoped the knock-ons to missions and other activities as a result.... notwithstanding the fact mining missions have been broken forever now. I can only hope they have plans to fix that.

Funny thing is, I really enjoy the old mining even though it always paid miserably. The new mining doesn't feel like an improvement (though it does pay more). So I guess I'll do it as often as the old mining, except now I'll need 2 different loadouts because the old and new mining are 2 separate things...like the BGS and Powerplay. ;)

Ok being seeing quite a few mining missions at my local system so thought I would take a break from my usual haulage job and try mining. So found several missions wanting bromellite and some methanol monohydrate, thought no problem several pristine rings nearby why not. Ok 2-3 hours later and 300 limpets or so later(had to make several trips for these) I've got 36% of 1t of Methanol and 85% of 1t of Bromellite. So I'm either doing something wrong here or this is totally a waste of my time. I guess miner don't do it for the cash.:|

Probably you are not doing anything wrong. Its the ice rings poor % mineral content. In ice rings the highest % mineral content is 20%-30% in all other types rings it is 50%-60%
So you found asteroid that contains 2% of bromelite. In no RES the average yield is around 31 chunks, from that you get 62% of 1 ton of bromelite. So watch for % mineral content of mineral you want to mine and just ignore low % asteroids.

Best single tip for mission mining:

Do the mining first, get full of all the profitable stuff, and then pick the mission up for hand in. If no mission is about, just sell it and head out again. 07 cmdr.

...

Collector limpets keep you from chewing through your wrists out of frustration, so that just leaves the real estate itself. Pristine Rings and Haz RES (within 10 km of the marker) are going to have the best payout...
I always thought it was within 20km?!

As bad as ice mining is currently... You're doing something wrong, really wrong.

Actually, I don't agree that the new mining is completely different because it's additive to the existing mining. As it stands at the moment, I'm probably not going to do much more mining with the enhanced mining than I did before. For me the new beta mining has been more engaging but mostly tedious! It's disappointing because I've always wanted to like it.

Fair enough, I was extremely careful to not say 'better', just different. I don't tend to shoot stuff that doesn't shoot back personally, but I might give it a try once or twice to hear the sound of the booms. ;)
