Guest Generated Pictures and the Memory it (Might) take up

In RCT3, I Created 3 groups of Peeps. 2 have 16 peeps and 1 3peeps. Every time they took a Picture or had a Picture taken on a Coaster, it would Save that Picture in a Separate Folder. Well I found the Folder and saw it took up 750MB(plus) of Memory. There was Less than 100 Photos in that Folder. This is Ridiculous/Insane!

That means I either have to not put Photo Ops on Coaster, which inturn lowers Income Potential for that Coaster Or After playing, go into the Folder and Delete the Photos taken. Also, I can not create Scenic Areas and Place Photo Ops near them either.

Then while they are having their Picture taken on the Coaster, Lag sets in to inform me that all 16 peeps had their Photo taken Individually. And if the 2 sets of 16 peeps ride, the Lag is 2-3 minutes of naming each Peep Individually to let me know they had their Photo taken. And this is with Not Fallowing those Peeps turned On.

I Hope PC does not need that much Memory to hold Pictures our Guest have taken or had taken while on a coaster. I could have used that space to DL a Movie (I did).

I agree the file size was crazy, but you have to recall it was 12 years ago and tech has moved on! However, I'm not sure you still play the game but if this is becoming a problem you can turn them off, hope this helps!

So..... I've just done some testing to see how a 4K image file would go in terms of file size and here are my results for a proper 4K (4096x3112) with a rainbow gradient.

File Format
File Size
JPEG
7.3 MB
32BIT BITMAP
48.6 MB
PNG
36.4 MB
PNG with Compression
2.73 MB

Do with this information what you will.

I wouldn't hold you breath with PC likely to be able to take up to 4k photos of your theme park.

4k Photos I can Understand. But RCT3 using 750MB for Under a 100 Pictures????? That means each Photo is almost 8MB Each!

Granted the Photos do get uses as New Background Images for the Menu Screens BUT a GOOD Sized Photo that is Clear and Sharp still only need Less than 1MB to view and to make it into a Standard size Poster for a wall, 1MB.

I found the File while looking for Duplicate Files/Folders and Photos from the Net I forget I DL because it's sometimes might be awhile since I last saw the Photo and forgot I DL'ed it and is now under a different File Name so Windows don't pick it up as a Duplicate.

Awww. I thought we'd troll for a few more complaints before revealing the solution.
