Guest happiness is low while all the other bars are very good

So my guest happiness is only 61% while energy, hunger, thirst, toilet and education are all in the green. There is not one negative collective thought either. What makes the happiness so low? I really don't get it. Reputation also looks ok to me:

I want to improve guest happiness but I have no idea what to do!

How did you get Education so high? Am I the only Person that has the Bug where the Guests get almost no Education no matter how many Education-Signs and Speakers I place?

I did it like this:

And no certainly you aren't the only one! The zoo I built before this went bankrupt because of low education. So this time I decided to place an absurd amount of information poster things and it worked! (I'm playing in hard mode btw, this amount is not necessary in medium mode)

Ok, thanks. I hope it will work soon in my Zoo.
Did you already look at what your Guests think about your Zoo? Maybe you find the Solution for the Problem there

Yes I did, there are only green thoughts. At least where the thoughts are all grouped, I haven't checked individual guests.
You're welcome, glad I could help!

I had the same issue when I was playing in hard mode for a while, I assumed it is just harder to get the overall happiness green in this mode. As soon as I changed back into medium difficulty, the number went higher and green without any changes to my zoo setup.

Covering every possible piece of path with a speaker and a sign at every viewing spot does the job for me.

Just replied to a similar thread in the general section to say as far as I know guests happiness isn't directly related to their needs which to me makes sense - I can go to a zoo and not be hungry, thirsty or tired and still not have a good time. Low needs will push down happiness but to gain it the guests need to get good views of the animals and not have to spend to much time travelling between habitats.

There was a thread a while ago that helped me out https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/everything-you-know-about-how-happiness-works-is-wrong.533845/ but I have to add the caveat that now a high education rating has been changed so it impacts donations rather than happiness. I don't know if it applies but I think a big problem is when zoos get too sprawling and they don't have transport rides so the guests spend ages walking between habitats. Also benches definitely helped me a lot - because they weren't full all the time I underestimated how important it is to have them around.

That does make sense! What would you say gives the best views for guests? I build the paths over my habitats for animals with the confident trait (the shy ones get too stressed). That seems to work well. The guests don't seem so impressed with my other habitats though.
(What a great video, thanks for sharing! I love how they make it kind of difficult)

I'm afraid I'm not the best designer of habitats so my advice isn't worth much! I have a suspicion that the ones that are easiest to build (large, squarish enclosures) are probably less successful because people want to get close to the animals - they seem to work ok for exhibits where you have lots of individual of a species because at any one time there will be one that is close to the barrier. The rest of the time though the animals spend time in the middle and aren't close to the guests. Next time I start a new franchise zoo I'm going to try making the enclosure much thinner and more interesting shapes and see if I can come up with covered walkways over the top with strategic openings for guests to view the animals.

I tend to make sleeping areas really near to guests (with do not disturb signs and one -way glass) and that seems to work well because even in good weather there is usually someone napping for the guests to see up close. Also multiple viewing areas - I often have guests say the view is only ok or not very good in one thought bubble and then they've clearly moved round to another area because then they get a green thought about the views. I also have a habit of making my enclosures really big and I think that causes me problems as guests have to walk further around.

I think although there are some issues I quite like that the balance between guest happiness and animal stress is real - it feels realistic to me. My most praised view is probably my walk through lemur enclosure but I also get regular messages that they are stressed. I had to put in barriers and a closed of sleeping area and now the messages are infrequent despite the paths being choc-a-bloc but most of the time the animals recover fast.

It's an average. That is why it's hard to read if you don't know where the numbers come from.

Not every guest has the same level of hunger, thirst, etc.
Total average happiness percentage says nothing on the sub categories, those can all be green without issues.
You have to check some guests individually to figure out what is going on. Only looking at that screens gives you almost no information.

Also, on that screen are only 4 subcategories as in thirst, hunger, toilet and energy. But it says nothing about guest happiness when it comes to the animals. There are more factors than those 4 that determine guest happiness.

Looking at your screenshots, your issues aren't related to shops or education.

I think the first things to check is the animal happiness in your zoo.
Maybe it's not low enough to get a notification but enough to influence a visitor.

And maybe add more decorations ?

More souvenire or information shops?

Or just check the facilities tab for items you might be missing in your zoo?

It's basically a trial and error situation or checking a lot of guests thoughts individually.
