Guests affected by facilities they can neither hear nor see.
Why is that?

My facilities are underground.

Yeah I find this illogical too. Like a beautiful building or a forest or trees shielding makes the guests unhappy but place it in plain view just a little bit further and suddenly the guest are happy. I wish decoration could shield the negative impact.

(I also don’t get the negative impact at all, I always loved to see the behind the scenes. Only thing I don’t need to see, or smell, is the poo pile.)

My guess its driven by a hit box of sorts and is still being picked up by that. There should be an option to turn that off, like some of the stuff in PC. Reason is I agree...its not always bad to be the staff building...not sure why this was programmed as such a negative in the game play.

I build a little "village" of staff facilities, I don't care too much about the guests they complain as they walk past but they shut up once they see the baby warthogs!

I do however understand the frustration of going to such effort and still having issues with them!

Now if I could just get the game to launch each time I tried that would be great!

I agree that there should be a way to toggle in buildings in sandbox in order to make them not count against you. However the smell/sound of many of the buildings is understandably proximity based.
Personally, I build 3-5 exhibits that all surround a hub of staff buildings. Makes for easy staff groupings and very short travel time between buildings and exhibits. If you go the underground option you can still place the buildings under paths, but they need to be deep enough. The building have a spherical hitbox, not a cylindrical one. So, if you are far enough above or below the path then guests will not notice. If you wanted to have a floating staff city, or a cave network, then you could as long as it was far enough up or down. The main drawback is that you really increase travel times with having to go all the way up or down stairs. I know Disney has a network like this, but it is mainly for quick traversal across the park and maintenance, both of which are unnecessary here. Also, I THINK that power/water buildings also have spherical influences, so this limits how far they can reach.

A pity, I wanted to design an Elephant research station under a cafe where both looked out onto the elephant ranch. Back to the drawing board, I guess.

Yeah, this feels off. The influence sphere that can be seen/heard anywhere feels outdated for a game that has a ton of immersion. I don't know many people that go to a zoo and complain that they see staff facilities and doors to utility closets. I can understand the utilities having a noise sphere (that would effect both guests and animals), they are noisy but things underground and inside buildings should definitely be considered hidden and noise free.
