Guests can adopt animals?

I don't think I have ever seen this before. And what does it mean? Did a guest just pick up one of my Mandrills from the habitat or did they "adopt" the ones I put up in the Animal Trading? So many questions...

If a guest really likes an animal they will go to the info store and adopt an animal!

That's correct. It can be a very good way to significantly increase your income if you set up a sufficient number of info stores!

A lot of real life zoos actually do this! It's just another way of asking for donations but gives visitors the feeling they are personally connected to an individual animal or species while donating.

Adoptions aren't just sold at Info Stores. Some of the souvenir stores also sell them. I rarely have more than one, 2 at the most, info Kiosks in any of my zoos because they just don't do a lot of sales other than the adoptions and you can cover adoptions with other shops that also move other merchandise.
