Guide / Tutorial [GUIDE] "Eliminate the Grind" - small ship career path mini-series

Hi

I added another video to the OP.

It doesn't 100% belong to the series because it isn't really a 'career' as such. In fact it was made in response to CMDR Madrax573's thread about finding one's Eleanor. The video however definitely does try to continue to promote anti-grind gameplay, as well as offering anti big ship FOMO propaganda - do you really need an Anaconda to have fun?? etc. etc. and this is why I added it to the list. So :p

Thanks!

The keelback is probably the best ship I've ever flown.... I'm messing around in my Cobra IV right now but I'm itching to get back into the KB. Especially now that I have the kit for it! It needs a raider kit though! Come on FDev you know it makes sense!

Awesome vid there Andy and as you know it's a great feeling when you jump in the cockpit of the 'one' ship you just get a big smile that doesn't want to leave!

Nice one, again! And that's the way it *should* be played IMO. Sadly, FDev has sabotaged one of the finer gameplay elements themselves by allowing the same thing doing with your ship data link scanner: much faster and eliminates the risk down to a formality. I'm doing them usually in my Cobra now and leave with a small scratch on my outer shield ring. My main income source, boring, but extremely efficient.

In my home system, where I'm allied with almost every minor faction I collect those that pay at least 3 Million, if enough I go on my private 'mini-grind' tour. And I promised to myself doing it so long until they remove this nonsense. Some things just need to be rubbed under their nose until it bleeds. But since many fast food lovers like it that way it's not even considered an exploit, I guess. [mad]

Sometimes, as right now, I happen to arrive in a system with some delivery goods where one of these missions is still open. All you need is an ADS (again this evil monstrosity!) to find the target body, no SRV or special ship required. Doing it in my transport Python right now. It's really sad how they never fail to screw their own game...

Note that this is a good illustration why I usually hate efficiency: it's just a gameplay killer in the first place most cases.

Btw, common player response to such things are: Then just don't do it. That's gameplay design and common gamer mindset in 2018 [wacko][money]

p.s.: one of the first things I'll check in the beta if this has been removed or not. I wished it would.

Sorry for the rant, excellent video again! :)
Yup. Completely agree. I didn't realise the Data Link Scanner could also scan planetary scanables!! :O Why? That just homogonises gameplay surely? What was the point of adding ships to guard the site if you then allow everything to be carried out from a ship which can just high wake out at the first sign of trouble? That ship guarding the site added strategy or at least something else to consider when you had to get into that SRV. Ugh.
Also agree with efficiency. I think that unless the game is designed around tuning min maxes (like puzzle games or Grand Strategy), efficiency soon gets boring.

@Madrax
Mate! You know! :) What was your Eleanor in the end? I can't believe it was the ships you mentioned on the first page??
[EDIT] Found it! Pg 4. You definitely know!
