Gun convergence, please...

I know some of the Empire ships have suffered from this as well, but how is it in the year 3304 we cannot have some sort of gun convergence? Heck, I'd even be happy with a pre determined convergence zone set by the Devs of 1k or 1.5... Something... This is some sort of an inside joke right??? lol...

We asked for weapon harmonization ages ago, either preset per ship or adjustable for preference (in outfitting say) but never got a response from the devs I believe.

We could certainly do with it.

Okay. Your weapon's aren't centered.

Why aren't you using gimbled then?

Even better question. Why are you not pulling on hair riding their rear like that?

When I'm in combat. I try to maintain decision space of about 1k or so and my fixed cannons center just fine despite being placed in odd locations. It's only when I'm tackling someone at <50 meters that the placement starts to become a problem.

Granted if I'm trying to tackle someone, they're usually bigger then me so missing is kind of hard. Smaller targets trying to tackle me makes it hard but that's what smaller hardpoints and gimbled/turret weapons are for.

Also the decision space tends to make it harder for people to shake me once I'm on their six.

Seriously. If you're close enough that your weapons aren't centering. At least pull their hair.

Adhock... I'm just going to go on the assumption that you don't know what is actually going on in the screenshot or what happens on ships like the Type 10 in the shot, clipper, or cutter. On any other ship fixed are fine, but when they are spread you cannot hit with more than one perhaps two weapons at a time. I have this setup because you only have a choice of fixed or turret for AX weapons there are no gimbled...

Everything perfect on every ship isn't going to happen. Every ship in the game has ups and downs, pro's and con's. I love this about the ships, some can't complain enuff to change every ship in the game. I do agree with you but, I'll take the adapt and overcome recipe every time.

And what does it look like when you're targeting something 1.5k out?

I do not know about T10 but in clipper you will miss with both large weapons if your target is something smaller than planet and you try to target its "center".

Weird. I have no problem hitting targets with gimballed weapons in the Clipper or the Type 10. I'm using 4 gimbaled Large cannons on the Type 10 and - yeah, they don't always all have a firing solution at the same time but most of my shots hit what I'm aiming for when I'm not trying to pull any crazy maneouvers. Although, sometimes all my shots also hit when I _am_ trying to pull crazy maneouvers.

Gotta admit I've never tried aiming at a planet, however. Mainly because I haven't found one with a bounty on it yet.

The 10 has great convergence.

You have 2 pairs of large hardpoints that converge on either side, plus a medium up top so that is 3 fixed weapons (2 large + 1 medium) on either side.

The bottom hardpoints are trickier, but it isn't the end of the world.

Yeah, with gimballed weapons it is fine. The discussion was about fixed and some ability to set convergence point for them, because currently on some ships (clipper being a good example) it is almost completely impossible to hit single target with all the guns at the same time if they are fixed.

Especially with a limited number of combat specific ships or ships capable of competing with the PvP metas, it drastically limits your load out options. Ok you can go with frags on the Clipper, again, and then what.. mines. The T-10 is designed in every aspect with combat in mind, but nobody thought the option for fixed weapons were a must?

I don't hate gimbles, but once you get used to fixed, between the jitter, the weaker rounds and chaff, it becomes harder and harder to eat the damage fall off and not just switch to a more capable ship.
I love the way the Clipper handles and with frags it can ram and bang like no other but it deserves better.

The T-10 looks great but already has it's weaknesses, underpowered distributor being one. It arguably more so being a dedicated "combat ship", deserves better HP convergence if it's to fulfil the blurb in it's bio.

It's not long since another thread about this.

Question is what convergence would you have?

One for LR modded weps and another for < 1km?

Adjustable convergence, that you can set at the outfitter or engineer?

Fixed wep's already auto converge within certain limits when you are on target.

Then of course you have gimbaled weapons if you so choose.

The convergence is obviously another ship balancing mechanism for Frontier. Just like jump range, speed and shield strengths.
I would be surprised if they changed that ever.

Ships can't be good at everything. Example a Clipper is blazing fast but you would have to be a fool to try to make a PVP ship out of it.

Good PVP players would be become Godlike while average players would never adjust the convergence or even know it existed.

Yeah it does seem a bit silly that in the year 3304,when we have FSD's and Fuel Scoops etc, that weapons don't converge, unfortunately the Dev's have to think about balance (lol) because (big sigh) of PvP.

Convergence is in the game.
Gimballed = dynamic convergence.
And it works well.

Fixed on the other hand is fixed (with a little wriggle room).
