Gunnars and the HUD

Good day CMDR's,

I am about to acquire a set of Gunnar Optiks glasses, and I was wondering if anybody out there has a recommendation for HUD colours that would compliment the amber tint.

Thank you in advance for your opinions and suggestions, and safe flying CMDR's!

Grats on the Gunnars. I've got two pair (One prescription, one not) and love them. They're as advertised.

On topic with your question, any color scheme -should- work. Honestly, I'd start with whatever HUD colors you're currently using, and the only look at changing if you find you don't like it or start missing details.

We all see colors just a little differently, so what may look fine to me may be a little low contrast for you. In general, my experience with the Gunnars is that it only shifts the colors a very little bit. Once you start using them, you'll find that you don't even notice after a while. The color shift is about the same as using f.lux, or the nightwatch mode on an iPhone.

I'd probably recommend against a heavy blue themed HUD, as that yellow is designed to filter some of the blue wavelengths out. But you might try it anyway to see if you like it. Default HUD should be fine.

I use Gunnars sometimes and after a while I tend not to notice much of a change to the colour - until I take them off and walk around going "whoooooa" for a few minutes.

The default colour scheme should be okay, but as Verdigris says it could be you're seeing different to others so try what you have currently and tweak as necessary.

Thanks for your responses CMDR's.

@ Verdigris - I dind't even think about the blue hues, and considering I use a white/blue hud primarily, this may be affected. Thanks for pointing that out!
