GUNSHIP

Anyone have any success in pvp with fed gunship? I am liking this ship but the pitch rate may be what kills it for me. 4 Multi canons are nice, but is it worth it?

So i'm just seeing if any of you have had any success with it in pvp.

Try the Federal Assault ship, I think it has a better pitch rate. Not sure though, however i always seem to get attacked by commanders in them so maybe its better for pvp?

Stick railguns on the med and small hardpoints and a large laser on the Large. Then see what its like ;)

Bought it for the second time and I'm with you, I just can't get the Thing to turn quick enough. Its stripped down and parked and trying to find use for it. If you do let us know. ;)

Don't try pitching like that, at least not all the time.

Think about you. You have an A6 PP but a A7 Distributor.

This means with four pips to engines you can boost turn basically forever. Even with two you can boost turn continually for a while. This is how good gunship pilots fly. Ever noticed how in an RES you get those gunships that are somehow outurning you? that's why.

In addition the FGS has very impressive "stopping" capabilities. It can go from full speed to zero faster then a lot of other ships. Which means going from full steam ahead to reverse while in combat is very possible, very quickly. This can be used as well.

Thx for the tip. I was playing around with boost turns last night. This does make sense esp since multis don't use that much power.

Long time ago i got attacked by a Imp courier and a Railgun Viper Cmdr while in a Res sight. I outurned them and it took awhile due to chaff and the average range of engagement reducing my large beam lasers accuracy, but the minute their sheilds went down my 6 multicannons killed them in less than 5 seconds. I was heavily damaged due to the rail viper having open season on me. If you can fly the beast it can really pour the dps on, and it can take a beating with its hull. I typically use blitz tactics with it to minimize my sheilds damage if possible.
