Ships Gutamaya Corsair: Theorizing ship builds

Good beak day, everyone.

I think it's time to start a theorizing thread about the possible builds for the real Python Mk II Gutamaya Corsair - aka The Beak.

What we know for now:

Medium pad size

Core internals

class 7 Powerplant
class 7 Thrusters
class 5 Frame Shift Drive (SCO optimized)
class ? Life Support (propably 4)
class 7 Power Distributor
class 6 Sensors
class ? Fuel Tank (propably 5)

Optional Internals
class 6
class 6
class 6
class 5
class 5
class 5
class 4
class 3
class 2
class 1

Utilities
unknown (propably 4)

Hardpoints

M

(all on the hull so good convergence)

What could we do with it?
Basically everything imho 🤷‍♂️

It can propably use a c4 or even c3 shield like the Python does, making it a good medium trader, or a good medium PAX runner.
Not as good as the T8 in raw cargo tho.
Speed will be higher than the Python (642 max?) so it will be a good smuggler or piracy vessel.

It will be a good combat ship, due to being able to fit a c6 prismatic and two c6 SCBs, making it near certainly better shielded than a FdL or PyMk2.

Due to good convergence and a c7 Distri, it propably will be a good PvP ship, with a 6 PA loadout (nods at @Dillon Fallon) or the classic all frag outfit.

I'm propably using my first one as a PvE combat ship, with 3 fixed M long range beams and 3 overcharged multicannons, using the c7 Distro to power the beams
and possibly a guardian boosted bi-weave or SCB boosted Prisma.

AX it will propably also shine (6 convergent guardian plasma chargers).

Exploration will be worse than in many other ships, due to the iCourier cockpit and limited visibility.

It won't be a jack of all trades ship sadly due to no c7 slot (no c7 universal limpet controller :cry:)

What are your propable use cases?

I must say, the combination is intriguing, of the hardpoints and core module classes. I don't doubt it will be capable. But I won't be caught dead or alive in one. Which is a shame, because I tend to like Guatamaya ships, I have all but the Clipper, because what the hell do you do with a Clipper? Corsair's a goofy looking tub.

So it will be interesting to follow the builds players come up with, but only as a spectator sport. I believe your guesses for life support and fuel tank class are correct. I read this somewhere else.

Good hunting for the commanders who fly this, thing.

I think of 3 different:

Corsair 1: Modshard-Fighter for Human-PVE with 5 or 6 Modshards, Thermal-Resistant 6C Bi-Weave, 2 6B SCB, HRPs.

Corsair 2: Multi-Role with reasonable combat capabilities, with Beams and MCs, 5C Biweave or ELP-Prismatic, 200+ Cargo

Corsair 3: Long Range Multirole Medium with GFB, Class 6 Fuel Scoop, Lightweight-Weapons, lightweight modules where reasonable

Interesting.

I might try a multirole / materials gatherer, depending on the stats. That would render my Orca obsolete.
Advantage would be the M pad and it might even be armed.

Orca Gatherer

This becomes my faction bgs/reputation ship.
Enough slots and guns to take on almost any type of mission provided and medium so it can dock up everywhere required.
Shield, 2x cargo, FSD booster, scoop, passenger cabin, srv bay, operations limepts, flight assists

Weapon load out will likely end up being 2x canons 1x MC 3x pulse lasers. I'm not retiring a mamba for the p2 but I'll retire the python for this.

Orca Gatherer

Since the Mandalay, I use my beloved Phantom in this role, but she lacks a bit of cargo.

The Corsair could haul 128 tons more, fights better and could have 60LY+ (guess), what is more than enough.

It is a Bubble-Scanner, rares-trader and for „loitering around in the edges of the bubble and beyond“ to find something interesting. Just flying around and have the right ship for every PVE-Role. I like this.

I wonder when we'll get Corsair added to Coriolis.io to start playing around with build ideas...
But I'm not keen on that iCourier cockpit

Incidentally, the Type-7 is very close in terms of optional internals: 6665553321. If you pretend one of those 3's is a 4, then it would be the same. On the other hand, it only has four small hard points, so it can't really be used for testing builds at edsy or coriolis.

The next best thing is, of all possible ships, the Anaconda: 766655544421. If you ignore the 7 and one of the 4's, and pretend another 4 is a 3, it matches. Also the hard points are HLLLMMSS, so if you pretend the H is an M and ignore the S's, it matches. All the core internals are also equal or larger in the Anaconda.

I suppose a combat build could be something along the lines of:

3x class-3 plasma accelerators
3x class-2 gimballed multi-cannons (one with corrosive shells, two with incendiary rounds)

Class-6 shield generator
Class-6 fuel scoop
4x class-5 hull reinforcement package (heavy duty)
Class-4 module reinforcement package
Class-3 module reinforcement package
Class-2 module reinforcement package

Or something like that.

Bit more stripping
87-89 LYr

I've planned my first build today and made the shopping list. Might be another few days until I can actually build it though.

Outfitting will be a jack of all trades PvE multirole. I already know I like the cockpit in VR from the Courier (which is almost the most important factor for me), so I can see myself flying that a lot for... well almost everything apart from really heavy combat. For now planning to put six plasmas on it I have in storage, but weapons are swapped around regularly on my ships anyway. Just shy of 40 ly jump and 270 ly total with little penalty for 128t of cargo sounds great, as do 1300 base shields and 1400 base armor.

Oh so once you unlock .... you can buy more... oooh... I may be a while
