Gutamaya Foxtrot India Bravo Heavy......

.....so having laboured my way to being a Duke I am now faced with the question that all Dukes ask and it's "well what do I do with it now?"

Not as sluggish as a T9 or as drifty as a Conda, the Cutter is indeed a thing of beauty.. Slender, svelte and surprisingly (though perhaps not as the engines are 100m or more away) quiet.. Good utility mount placement and the RNG gods were smiling as Ms Farseer modded my 7A FSD about as far as it can so yes, the question..

What next?

Now in all of my grinding I spent a fair bit of time down in Aditi and there are plenty of long range haulage jobs.. Or may Ceos and Sothis... Or perhaps Maia?

Or will it be slave trading "across the border" so to speak...

Anyway, what do new Cutter owners do?

(I do predict that someone will say "sell it because it is crap" but that's point missed though, surely?)

Fill your 720 tons cargo with unknown probe, and sell them to Jaques Station. (or give them to me)

besides the problem of aquiring 720 unknown probes, you won't be able to sell them at jaques station, because that doesn't have a black market.

___

well, how about state-trading? e.g. medicines from boom systems to war systems, or A-B-A between a hightech- and an extraction syste in boom.

or, pick a minor faction you want to back, and as long as it controls at least 1 commodity market, see the power of trade by raising their influence through your profits.

Unfortunately 704 tons as long trip are easier with scoops! I might finish off my Fed grind, maybe head off down to Ceos...

Any word on paint for it? Been out a while now and well, they're all white... Nothing wrong with white but it's a bit mid 2000's iCutter....

Bought mine to trade in, good to go almost out of the box. 720t haulage is nuts. One day I might juice it full of upgrades and make it into a privateering boat worthy of the name 'the crimson permanent assurance'.. but only when a bigger trading ship shores up.

I'm making 2.1m for a one hop route in an Anaconda. I may have to look into getting a Cutter until I can explore again. 3m per drop sounds good to me :D

Trade, trade, and maybe some trading after that. You'll need lots-o-cash to outfit it to anything worthwhile, and a trade build is relatively cheap. Don't bother with combat until you can afford the good stuff.

My Cutter is A rated to the brim, A8 Shields and fairly heavily tweaked (and still going) by those lovely engineers. Due to rhe fact we can't store cargo anywhere (yet) it's pretty much the only ship I'm using and loving every minute of it! Absolutely amazingly brilliant ship! :D

Ha the cutter is a lot more drifty than a Conda. Try boosting towards a station to dock and line up from an angle and tell me you don't drift all over space. She's got a really big rear end and loves to shake it. I A-rated everything and I love this ship. But I dropped the shields down from an 8A to a 6A so that I could have more cargo space. I have 6 shield boosters so I still have over 900Mj. I get about 29ly jump with an A-rated mod 5 FSD. Not the best roll but it'll do for now. As for what to do...hauling and mining is what she does best. Great for fortifying control systems in PP too. She makes me lots of money stacking long haul jobs from Sothis/Ceos.

What's your cutters jump range? Mine is at about 32ly at the moment and I got a rubbish roll.

That's actually not too bad.. Mine was only a pixel line or two off max (shown at +45% max) and with this build:

https://coriolis.io/outfit/imperial...4i050504043224.Iw18ZZA=.Aw18ZZA=?bn=CutterUp2

I get 33.6ly empty and 22.9 fully loaded...

Spent a chunk of this evening doing a Ceos/Sothis run.. Just short of 59mill... Which will go toward a better shield gen and power plant...

I always saw it as an unarmed type (mine launcher excepted) and clean drive tuning over dirty... It's a clean ship so why wouldn't it?

Big too.. Be nice when we can walk about inside because someone at FD went to the trouble of actually putting something behind those portholes....

Mine is an exploration build atm and on the FSD roll I got the optimal mass was only about half way through the blue.

Also im running D rated thrusters with a decent G3 dirty drive roll, this has made them better than the 160m A rated thrusters

I use mine for heavy duty work. For example during the last CG in Carthage i singed up for both the majestic and bounty hunting portions of the CG and was able to move around 400 tons of cargo and get into fights to claim bounties. My cutter isn't completely maxed out but still packs a punch and has shields like crazy, plus all of its internals and utility slots can be swapped out for a variety of different task, or you could just take some of everything because the cutter has the space to do so.

You won't make much dosh pew pewing for a living so you'd better get used to it :)

The Python or Anaconda are more useful ships (generally speaking) than both the Cutter or Corvette... believe me, I have all 4.
The Cutter makes creds better than any due to the cargo space... the Corvette is a pew pew ship better than most due to flitting about like a fighter with big guns... but the Anaconda is all of those and more.

Both my Corvette and Cutter have been parked up in my hangar for a long time, I've been too busy dragging the Anaconda around the galaxy or playing the mission boards in the Python or Cobra.... I didn't get all that dosh for the nice ships by pewing neither.

You gotta do what you gotta do to make creds [yesnod]

trades op right now cause other systemsm (fines, pirates logging ectra list is forever long) is inbalanced IDEALLY traders move cargo pirates pirate them us combat guys guard traders/hunt pirates so it all balences out but theres various lack of systems in place to really decently allow it

cargo fines are just jokes your hauling illegal stuff if anything you gt scanned you should have to pay a fine almost equal to your cargo or tonnage and not beable to sell it for anywhere near full profit/be forced to sell at a black market if your not already doing so

but im spitting hairs as we all know various aspects of various professions could always improve (as could maybe a mission board based player bounty system we pay station X a fee to set a hit on pirate X then me in fighter Y can take that mission after a set timelimit (inorder for the person giving the bounty to be FULLY reimbursed if a player dosent take the job within the timelimit) go kill pirate z and get payed

buuuuuutttttt

tldr

ill get used to trade when ive actuallygot people to talk to/flywith I honestly don't care how big your jumprange is I don't see how you guys can do 300 400 500 1k whatever jumps by yourselfs

even jumping 50ly solo drives my head in.

I'm lucky in that I usually do fly with mates...for almost everything in ED from trading to hitting a hires for fun.
The Lidpar pilot training facility added 140 odd names to my Xbox live friends list...a lot of them aren't around anymore (new games etc) but a few are.

Long range stuff like Sothis is difficult to stay together... as are BB missions due to the nature of them... but the party chat is always good fun and a relief from the boredom all the same... we just meet up in the station, fly off our seperate ways but all stick around in the party just chatting.
