Guys, how did my Anaconda Just die? Details here. Please help

Commanders. I've been playing for 2 years and know the game. Hadn't been online in quite a while. I take my anaconda to this exact location in Upsilon Phoenicis

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/312238-Good-Arsenic-farm

I fly my anaconda to about 1.5 height above the Lava Spouts. My Anaconda then is in a stable hover. Since it is stable, i decide to launch myself in a ship launched feighter out of my anaconda and I am flying my ship launched fighter. I fly for about 20 seconds , don'g give my Any any orders, and assume it is still hovering still. I launch out of my Any all the time above planets and it is fine.

All of a sudden, my Any is dead. I'm Playing on Mobius PVE, nobody was around, and I can't figure it out. Did my Any nose dive like it never has before and crash? Did it get hit by a lava spout that high above the ground?

Any thoughts guys? I'm now 3mill BELOW my rebuy and am going to be super careful, maybe do a tourism mission or 2 to make the money back. Jeez. Scared.

Thank you!

Unless you tell it to hold position, it will follow you rather closely. Could possibly have collided with something, but it's hard to speculate with only the information provided.

When you launch to a fighter, your main ship follows you around. It's possible that it followed you into the ground, or something similar.

You could appeal to Frontier. Generally speaking, if it's the first time you lost a ship, and it in odd circumstances such as this, they will refund your rebuy. I suspect it's because You flew too close to your ship, which avoided you and hit the ground.

Hi. Since you did not give the ship orders, the default behaviour is to follow you. So it would have followed you. Given you've already lost the ship once today, highly recommend you fly something else as flying without re-buy is exceedingly foolish.

I'm doubtful that the AI crashed while trying to follow the SLF. They updated the terrain avoidance AI around the beginning on the year. I've spent a lot of time canyon running in an SLF looking for geysers since then, and never once had my typically fragile and underpowered exploration Conda even come close to crashing while following me on autopilot.

ip-so facto. AI is not infallible. Yes, the collision avoidance is much better, but the OP assumed the ship would take a stationary position, when the default behaviour is 'follow me'. If the ship was engaged, there would be a warning to indicate. So it's likely the AI simply flew into something it shouldn't have, possibly at high speed, or used boost to try and clear an obstacle. Which is most often terminal.

This must be what happened. I mean, i hardly flew out of my conda and did not lose any altitude. I flew out sideways, did one boost sideways not towards the ground, and boom I'm dead. Didn't see anything.

Where would I ask Frontier about this? The entire incident was and remained 1.5 above the ground.

1.5 meters? that's not giving the parent ship much room; also if Ani followed you into a lava spout, don't those damage vessels? Also have a look in the journal, around the time it occurred, there may be references to that which caused ship destruction.

I don't think you can get an Anaconda to 1.5m, the hull armor is thicker than that (in theory I suppose). He must mean 1.5km, in which case, if he didn't go near the ground, it is a bit of a mystery.

OP, were you near a base, even if you were 100km out? And did you get a small bounty as well? If so, it was probably a falling skimmer. Are there any 'rogue' independent skimmers or are they all aligned with a sub-faction? Or in other words, is it possible to be hit by a falling skimmer and not get a bounty? Defintielyl a curious one.

It's 400 tons. The armour is essentially mithril. But I don't really know; the OP has been fairly vague beyond "my ship exploded like five seconds after I left it? D:" so whilst I feel for their loss, it's hard to know what the cause was.

The Arsenic farm is no more, go there for the view :)
edit : The Planet itself has 2.3% Arsenic resources

NPCs or the plain Ship Computers have a hard time flying over certain terrain types and are prone to collide with the Ground under certain circumstances.
Deep Canyons or Crater Walls are notorious NPC/Mothership killers, for example.

To make matters worse, it appears both NPCs and unmanned Ships following the Player fly 1/4/1 Pips when attempting to keep up with the typically much faster SLFs flown by the Player.
Thus, this can result in a highspeed, low-Pips crash into the Ground.

Cause of mishap : "Controlled Flight into the Ground"

Whenever flying an SLF at low Altitude, make sure the order "Hold Position" is given and maintained. For good measure, lock up the Mothership while buzzing around.
Verify that the order was accepted (doesn't work below a minimum Altitude).
Also note that anytime 25km is reached or exceeded, the Ship will automatically start following the Player again - regardless of orders issued.

PS.
Filing a Support Ticket should get you your Credits back within 72hrs.

Sorry, I can't help you with your question about why your anaconda got destroyed, but please buy a small(ish) ship to earn the needed credits and don't fly without re-buy.

A second emergency money earning ship is always a good idea for such cases.

Yes, OP could make that three mil with one or two passenger missions in a Dolphin, or even a Cobra.

Hey guys, thanks for the answers.

Yes,i meant 1.5km wtvr the measurement is for being decently high above the ground. 1.5km not 1. 5 meters barely hovering. I'm taking decently high up where the lava spouts were hardly visible. They looked like small red dots and I could hardly see them. Then, as I mentioned above, I flew out of my ship with a ship launched fighter. I did not fly towards the ground, just flew out maintaining the same distance from the ground as my condo of 1.5km. I didn't even have time to turn the ship launched fighter back towards my condo to look at it as is instinctive just to ensure all is ok. Before I could even turn, BOOM. that's it. I can almost ensure not the ground, the conda would of had to nosedive and probably couldn't even make the grind that fast. No skimmers on radar or anything.

It literally made no sense.

Truly appreciate this feedback.

1 - dang, that arsenic farm is dead? Why? They nerfed it?

2 - where can I file a support ticket? Specifically. On these forums or?

3 - I know it his is noob, but id been away for a while. Can I park my anaconda, and "borrow" the level 4 upgraded fsd and apply it to another cheaper ship so that it will jump far and do the passenger missions? Any thoughts on what to buy? I have 5 miles in bank and need 9 for rebuy.

Very fortunate for this feedback. Great community. I come from dota 2 where everyone is hell lol so this is awesome :)

Your hull percentage hit 0

Just fooling around, when you launched your fighter your ship was set to follow so my guess Is the ai messed up and crashed

Oh I dunno, I recalled my Annie once. It spawned underground instead of in the sky, flew up behind me, erupted from the ground like a breaching whale and promptly exploded :D
