General / Off-Topic H.R. Giger is gone

I was just watching, in these days, the movie (alien) for the ten thousand time and the various documentaries about it on youtube.
Re-appreciating his job done.

In the 1996 i visited his works show in Milan and i was amazed by everything in it.
What a wonderful artist.
Now is gone and i feel very sad.

Rest in peace dear Giger, now the monsters within your mind cannot reach you anymore.

That's a shame, he had a lot of great works... even though some of it was quite disturbing it was always most impressive. RIP.

RIP Giger.

Your creations live on with the power to scare each new generation ****less just as intended.

I suspect, given his links to the sci-fi genre, that Frontier may honour him within the game as they've said they'd do with some others who've passed. Would be very cool if they incorporated his style (subtly) into whatever planet or station may be given his name.

Quite so, I'd love to see this.

I went to his museum in Gruyere a couple of years back - mind-blowing. Especially walking into a room then looking up to see a full-size Alien model hanging from the ceiling above me...

That was an interesting moment. During which I ripped up my application to the Colonial Marines.

The cafe opposite is splendidly Alien also, with delicious Alien coffees available. I'd highly recommend a visit to both.

AND there's a store in Gruyere called Fer-De-Lance!! Wish I could post the picture I took of it here!

RIP indeed.

A genius who really did blur the lines between art and horror and scarred an entire generation (in a good way!) with the results.

Giger was a big inspiration for me in my teens when I was heavily in to sci-fi artwork (designing and drawing my own). RIP, hero.

Although I praise his abilities to acheive his aims, I never actually enjoyed his work, which ironically, I felt was one of hs aims.
